Hi all. I teach 4 year olds. I was wondering what everyone does for St. Patrick's Day. What kind of activities do you do in your classroom. I have seen some teachers in the past mess up their classroom a little bit to make it look like the leprechaun was there. All ideas are welcome and appreciated. Thanks!

Love to sprinkle a bit of gold glitter in a few areas and mess the room up a bit. We make a leprechaun trap, shamrock shakes, read lots of St. Pat's stories, green art projects, learn about clovers and I like to bring in a real shamrock plant.

When I was in preschool, the teachers taped black construction paper "footprints" to the floor and had us kids look for clues that a leprechaun had been there. I recall thinking, "Its really weird that the adults think these are real footprints. I guess I'll play along."

Haven't experience St. Patty's day in a preschool yet, but last year when I was student teaching the teacher I taught 3rd/4th grade with put footprints and glitter over kids' desk. My 1st/2nd grade teacher went all out with knocked over desks to go with the footprints!

    Lucky Charms

We make traps the leprechaun always leaves a note, foodprints, and a box of Lucky Charms to graph the charms....
For snack we make vanialla pudding with green food coloring and whip cream and graham cracker crumbs,
