A little over a decade ago, my district used to call academic/behavior concern meetings SSTs (Student Study Teams). A few years ago, we started calling them PSTs (Problem Solving Teams). Now, we're currently referring to them as SSTs (Student Success Teams).

What does your district call 'em? Just curious!

    RPCs? Required Parent Conferences.

Those are meetings between the parent and admin regarding some inappropriate incident or behavior. Is that the same type of meeting you're talking about?

We call them SSTs. I believe in California they are typically reffering to students who struggle academically, it is the first step before reffering to Sped. It can include behaviior issues, but I see it as typically for academics.

In my district the student study team is a joke. It does not work.

    Ah, gotcha.

In that case, I have no idea what we call meetings for students who struggle academically.

Ours used to be SST as well. But they went away and weren't formally replaced. Now every student is supposed to be carefully examined by guidance, admin and social workers. An impossible task.

Ours is an acronym based on our school mascot.

My favorite was in my first district when they decided to change the name from "RtI team" to "problem solving team" because "people don't like RtI." I'm sure the simple name change totally changed people's minds .

Used to be called PAC. Pupil Assistace Committee

Now called I&RS. Intervention and Referral Services. It's a NJ state requirement to have this committee to help teachers with strategies for struggling students and to identify services to help students who are struggling. It's a state acronym, not a district decided committee title.
