I teach an autism focus classroom. This year I am using Language for Learning/Language for Thinking/ Language for Writing.

Language for Learning is a pre kindergarten through 1rst grade program. I have a group of 6 students who tested into this program. One of them says it's like doing Kindergarten work. It is but he is really upset at doing this program.

I am reinforcing him at a high rate. How do you take a simple program and get high schoolers to buy in?

I have students that decode from 4th grade to 10th grade but comprehend at a first/second grade level.

The other kids are find but he is so frustrated I don't know how to help.

He can read easy chapter books but doesn't really understand it.:anyone::anyone:
