    OK, I have FINALLY decided I am going to go with a sports theme in my room. So far, I have:
    star of the week=MVP
    table captains= team captains
    reading groups named after the local teams
    I was thinking maybe each table of 4 could create their own team name and flag?

    Anyone have any bulletin board titles or other ideas for me? Maybe some websites to look at for inspiration?

    TIA

    Ooo..those are good!
    I ordered a window cling from Vistaprint that says Team B...
    I was thinking maybe foam pennants with names or student # to hang student work under?

    Thanks and keep them coming!

    This is what I did

    When I worked for a preschool I had to do a monthly themed parent board. What I did was I found a small baseball pattern and copied them onto red, white and blue construction paper. I had some professional baseball team stickers and I put one on each baseball, then laminated them . I used these for the border around my board. Then I had a large baseball diamond in the center of the board. This is where I would post news about what was happening in the room for that day. Then I had a larger baseball, glove and hat patterns that I used to put other information on. Also, you could do a newsletter with a baseball them. Maybe something like " All Star News from Room # or Ms. Your Name".

    Teaming up for a great year.

    You could make a "game plan" of some sorts with an academic board. Like "Math Game Plan" or something.

    When displaying work, the students can "hit it out of the park."

    Would "Banner Work" make sense for a display of their writing? That is a saying isn't it?? I have foam banners I thought I might add their class #'s to and they could pin their work under them?

    I am doing football. I have touchdown readers for their reading incentive chart (made a goal post around my window), team johnson on my door w/ their names on footballs, reading arena for my reading area, kick into a good book (authors names for good chapter books surrounding title), coach's corner above my desk, did have green carpet in the reading area, but we ordered new rugs as a school and I had to give it up:( Star MVPs for student work bulletin board. That's all I could think of off the top of my head.

    Maybe you could do something like the "Sports Page" or "Press Box" for their writing???

    Sounds like a great theme!

    Goodies,
    Since you are doing football, I'll share what I hope to do... I saw an outdoor carpet (green grass) for $15 at Home Depot. I am going to go back and get it and buy white duct tape and line it to look like a football field.

    I did a baseball theme a year or so ago, and I made a job chart titled "Pitch in and Help". I made brown cutouts of baseball gloves and listed the job on each, and then found cutouts of small baseballs that I put the students' names on. I placed a ball in the mitt to match students up to jobs. My jobs were titled things related to ball, like score keeper for person who kept track of assignments.

    Mrs. B,
    We just got our new carpet and it's big multi-colored circles! uuuuuhhhhhhh.....but I do have some fun jobs this year
    Quarterback= errand runner
    Running backs = paper passers
    Assis. managers = calendar/date
    Equipment managers = put all supplies away
    Refs = board erasers
    Score keepers = file all graded papers
    Wide recievers = collectors
    and I have book organizers, but I can't remember what they are titled.
    I made little footballs w/ the names of the jobs and I rotate clothes pins each Mon. for student jobs. Some jobs have 2 helpers. They love Mondays!

    Wow, great ideas everybody! Ems, love your site and your room! I made a sign today called Winning Work by die-cutting soccer ball scrapbook paper. Then I die-cut each student number and glued them on foam pennants to use as a header for each student to post their work under. When parents pop in they can quickly look at their child's work and I can see at a glance whose is missing.
