It's the second day of summer break and here I am thinking about next year!

Anyway, I'm looking for any suggestions for special spirit days at school where the staff and students dress up based on a theme. We have them throughout the school year where I teach but I'm looking for some other ideas. In the past, we've had pajama day, twin day, crazy hat or hair day, beach day etc.

Just wondering if anyone has done something at their school that went over really well.

We have done crazy hat day, Sports Team day, PJ Day, wearing one specific color day (Green for Earth Day), etc.

I personally DISLIKE these days and dread when they come around! EEKK!! It is such a HUGE distraction and the kids think it is a freebie day. Especially crazy hat day. Last year I look 5 or 6 hats away because it was too much to handle.

We did teacher/kid switch at a private school where the kids wore uniforms. It was a reward for raising money for a service project. The kids loved it.

    other ideas
    backwards day
    school color day
    camping gear day

The majority of our Spirit Days are during Red Ribbon Week, so they all have a "no drugs" theme.

Turn Your Back On Drugs (backwards)
    Team Up Against Drugs (sports/jerseys)
Partner Up Against Drugs (Twin Day)
_______School is Drug Free (school shirts)
We are Crazy About Staying Drug Free (crazy clothes/mismatched)

We are not allowed to do distracting Spirit Days anymore like PJ/crazy hair/hat/etc. We also do a few for certain holidays like Earth Day (green) and Valentines (red/pink).

What we do is pretty typical and has already been shared.

I also find that the vibe throughout the entire school is off on such days because it's such a drastic change from their typical dress code...it's their day to "prove" they wouldn't choose to wear khakis and polos.

One of my favorite theme days as a kid was dressing up as my favorite book character. I got to roller skate around the school all day, and had a blast!
