Our school currently uses the term "Specials" for courses that most of us would have considered Electives in High School and College - our Principal is looking for a different name to call this great group of teachers. He doesn't want to use Electives since some grades don't actually "elect" to go to them, we require them to take them. This is for Theatre Arts, P.E., Music, Visual Arts, Environmental Education, French, etc. :thanks:
Encore classes - Hmmmm ... nice ring to it! Itinerates sounds too well, um much like Illiterates ... not a good vision :-O
our elementary school uses the term exploratory----we have four this year----computer, p.e., art, and music.
