HOpe all is going well RWS!!! Planted some seeds & dad brought over some straw bales for our attmept at straw bale gardening!!!! Pretty excited!!! We planted beans, lettuce, corn, carrots, melons, pumpkins!!! Should be exciting to see if it works... I have some basil...but I think I'll plant that in a pot!! I thought it might help keep some animals away!!!
I think it went well. I got caught driving in a down pour and went to the wrong school (it was within a few blocks though) so things started out a little crazy, but once I got in there I think I did rather well. It's all a waiting game now. Fingers crossed!
I'm feeling old... my cousin is graduating tonite... UGH!!!! It's the first of many of my cousin (their parents are the ones I grew up with).... To help... we made a new recipe of Choc Chip cookies with vanilla pudding in them... REALLY good!!!
Graduation is over... it went well. It was so nice to see A LOT of my family there supporting my cousin. It's been a tough few years for their family!!! I even told I'm proud of you & love ya & she said love you too... Now that just melted my heart!!! ** Yes Alice... a few tears** just telling ya!!! Run... hopefully something even better will come along for ya!!! SOOOOOO.... my cookies turned out really good ... had some after grad with a cup of milk!!! YUMMY!!!
It was... Oh she even got her pic taken with me... Just the 2 of us how sweet!!! I love having family around!!!
Ah, a girl after my own heart. (Except for the milk part. I can't drink that stuff unless you put some kahlua into it.)
http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/award-winning-soft-chocolate-chip-cookies/Detail.aspx Here's where I got it from... I halved it because I wanted to try it first. We have TONS of left over candy so we used Hershey bars as our choc chips!!! You don't taste the pudding... just super moist. I would like to try like cheesecake just to see if you can taste it... Alice... I LOVE your drink choice as well!!! One of my favs!!!! This weekend it's suppose to be hot so we'll probably do the frozen Chi Chi that we have. Plus cousins said we'll be gone, go down & use the pool!!! YAY!!!
Soooooooo .......... there are so many good, competent teachers out there ..... Question: how do you get rid of the ones who really can't teach and are detrimental to education???
Soooooo for those who want to know...Partly Cloudy vs. Partly Sunny.. (This is important because I'm tracking the weather for the Indy 500 race tomorrow!).... % Cloud Cover 0-12 Sunny/Clear 13-37 Mostly Sunny/Clear 38-74 Partly Sunny/Cloudy 75-87 Mostly Cloudy 88-100 Cloudy
Seems like soooo many Indy 500 have rain delays........ "Cloudy" works for me.... Full day of racing tomorrow.... Indy 500 followed by the Nascar race in Charlotte.......:thumb:
Here is is May 28th, and we have yet to shut off the furnace. Today, we've had a mix of sun, rain, snow, sleet, and hail and it is only 1:20 PM. Love northern (think Nevada and Oregon) California!
I have had the heat on until today as well. This past week's weather started typical of early March and ended typical of late July.
Soooooo I see a lot of interest in "what kind of TV shows do you watch" I see TV as a "filler" or replacement to real life...... I love "real" life...... Is that because I'm not a real teacher........ and prefer to live out side the box....????............
I'm not a big TV watcher either Major. I'm either here or outside with the kids... or occasionally doing housework. Once in a while I'll watch TV with the kids-- that's how I've accumulated information like "The Top 10 Tanks/ Helicoptors/ anything else military/ of all time." Julia is a big Cake Boss fan, so I watched a bit of yesterday's marathon with her.
We got our straw bale garden planted... I'll keep ya posted. Beans, cantalope, watermelon, pumpkin, corn, carrots & lettuce. We don't usually watch something until at nite when we are getting ready for bed.
I admit, I LOVE watching TV, always have since I was a child. It's my way to relax & learn too since I watch a lot of forensic/crime, nature & other informational shows amongst other things. I think one can learn things from most shows. Even if it's a reality show, I like seeing how certain people live & think about life.
I don't have my tv hooked up to anything, though I watch DVDs or Netflix sometimes. I've always hated tv. Even when flat on my back for 2 months after surgery, I would watch a few movies, but mostly read books on my iPad. My parents kept offering to pay for cable for me so I wouldn't get bored. It is really hard to find other people who feel the same way! Especially roommates: in the past, I've resented having to use my book budget to subsidize roomie's tv. But, of course, they had reasonable expectation that it would be shared, so I always have to give up what I'd prefer to do with the $50/month. I don't trust most educational programs. I usually end up yelling at the screen if I see anything Egyptology or geology related.
I have one shown that I watch regularly-NCIS. Other than that I don't have any must sees. Daytime tv does nothing for me, so I might put on a DVD while I iron or something.
Sooo... an odd story... parents who dug a hole to put their trampoline in to keep their children safe almost claimed the life a of a toddler because of all the rain we have had!!! Isn't that just crazy?!?!
Oh Diz, that's terrible! I've seen people do that before, and thought it was kinda neat, but that's awful.
KC... I've never heard of problems with the "hole." Of course we had a trampoline when the were first coming out & I know it was costly. But in the 20+ years (a tree fell on it & bent the frame) we had it... we had very strict rules & never had any serious injuries. We didn't have ours in a hole either... just respected it as something you could get hurt on or hurt someone if you weren't careful!!!
Sooo... we have a batch of oatmeal cookies ready to bake... We made oatmeal raisin (at request of my gma), oatmeal choc chip & oatmeal butterscotch... I split one batch and made all of these... Can't wait to bake them....
