Just a theory....It seems most members tend to be elementary, followed by middle school, affiliated...men tend to be present in larger numbers in higher grades....but then again, I'm not sure, nor do I care, about the gender of the members here. We're educators...

There are more female teachers than male teachers, especially in the lower grades.

Women also tend to be more vocal, so we may have a lot of male members who don't say much. And in general there are more elementary teachers (just imagine, 1 teacher to 2osome kids in elementary or 1 teacher to 40something in high school), and yes there are more female teachers on lower grades.

Women like to talk  just kidding :)

I do notice more women in every forum or internet group I'm on though, including one that's just for my neighborhood.

How do you know who is male and female?

Half the people I think I know turn out to be the opposite. How do we know YOU'RE a guy??

I only "subbed" for a few years ....... (Had a great time!) In some elementary schools I was the only man on campus outside of perhaps the janitor... Too bad more kids that age aren't exposed to male teachers (and perhaps a "man's" view of the world).. I think that would be good.

Back to ATOZ it would be good to hear more topics from men... Some men can only read so many "venting" threads before losing interest ........ :hugs:

    Women can talk women
There was a recent 2nd amendment thread in which several women discussed their fire arms
I'm sure we have a few women who enjoy fishing...I'm not one of them
I drive a jeep...what do you want to talk about?
Bears? Start a thread...you never know...I personally always thought Goldilocks was guilty f breaking and entering.

Again, not sure why these are 'man topics' but I think maybe you're being facetious?

Everybody always assumes I'm a woman, unless I see a reason to set the record straight. I'll be honest and say that I generally assume users here are women unless they have a man's name in their username, or they come out and say they are men.

Czacza - I think he was looking to discuss beer, not bears. Unfortunate because, while I don't drink, I could definitely be up for bear conversation. :p

I'll talk about women too. What do you want to discuss?

I'm on four boards. One is male dominated, one is female dominated, and the other two are about evenly mixed. As for general chattiness, I think the male dominated board is the busiest!

I'm on four forums including this one.

One has an overwhelmingly male population (around 25,000 registered users, about 300 have identified as female, number is probably more around 1000).

One, a special ed advocacy forum, has an overwhelmingly female population.

And the last one, a forum I administrate with around 4000 members, has a Male to Female ratio of around 8.5:1.

There is probably a lack of men here as the most members of this forum seem to be elementary teachers, which males are sorely lacking (During all of my placements, the teachers were talking about how lovely it was that there was a guy in the school who wasn't a custodian).

Too bad more male teachers are in the lower grades. While I actually preferred teaching high school math I did enjoy being around kids at about the 4th grade level. I didn't care much for the 1st or 2nd graders .... They were fun but it was like trying to herd cats all day ..(plus I was always concerned about stepping on them).

I'm a tomboy at heart. When I was little, people would ask my parents about their son . . . and I'm the only child. Short hair. Jeans & t-shirts. Basketball. Dump trucks. Matchbox cars.

I also love clothes, shoes, purses, and makeup.

I can hold my own in fishing conversations. I drive a full-size 4x4 pickup truck. I've been scouting for deer. I can clean a wild turkey. I can tackle most minor home repairs like replacing faucets, light fixtures, and toilet parts. I know my tools.

I'm not a fan of beer, but I keep some Makers Mark on hand for making homemade cough syrup.

Here's something kinda boyish, although it has to do with my daughter...

Both of my daughters shoot competitive archery. They are pretty good. This past weekend, my youngest daughter became the NE State NFAA Indoor CHAMPION! She's 8-her division is ages 11 and under, so she beat girls quite a bit older (and stronger) than her.

Oldest daughter will likely be State Runner Up. The way archery is scored is kinda confusing, but suffice it to say-they are waiting on a couple more scores to come in before awarding the official results. But she was solidly in second.

Just had to brag a little! The girls work with the world #1 female archer, who happens to live about 60 miles from us.

Major, do you like that country song that has the lyrics ...."Chew tobacco, chew tobacco, chew tobacco, spit..."? It's very manly. Starts out, "The boys down here, drinking their ice cold beer, talking 'bout trucks, talking 'bout girls, talking 'bout ....."

I get along with male, female, admin, custodian, secretary, nurse...ths isn't my life..it's my job...it makes it so much more pleasant to just be nice
I drive a jeep, wear AWESOME shoes, short skirts, like country music and men who shoot guns ( actually, missiles) and while I prefer a Chardonnay, i can throw back a tequila shot or a pint of Guiness
Still not sure how any of this is exclusively male...
