    Hi everyone,
Everyday, I let my super helper pick the song of the day from a box. We've been working on learning 5 songs/ fingerplays: I'm a little teapot; Twinkle, twinkle; Row, row, row your boat; 10 little indians; and Itsy bitsy spider. I am trying to start adding new songs - approximately 2 a month, I've been working on the songs with the children for a week, then adding them to the box. I have now added: hand, shoulders, knees and toes, and ring around the rosie, but I am starting to have a hard time coming up with new songs. I'd like to keep them short, and I'd really like it to be something with an activity attached because my kids like that. I'm trying to stick to more traditional songs, but I'm open to anything cute. I was thinking about adding "My bonnie lies over the ocean" and maybe "The wheels on the bus," but that's a little longer than I wanted. They're only three so I don't have the longest attention spans here. Anyway, any ideas would be much appreciated..

My 3's love The Acorn Song (tune: I'm a Ford).
I'm an acorn, small and round (hands make a small circle)
Lying on the cold, cold ground (shiver)
Everybody steps on me (stomp feet)
That is why I'm cracked, you see (keep stomping)
I'm a nut (click tongue and knock top of head with fist 2x)
    I'm a nut (repeat)
    I'm a nut, I'm a nut, I'm a nut (click & knock 2x)

    Hey MAx-

MY kids love that song, but they like the 2nd verse better:

    I'm so nutty I don't know
Why the squirrels love me so
    I'm decended from an oak
Nuts to YOU and that's no joke
    I'm a nut...

My kids love Open Them Shut Them (when I was little we only did the first verse but they love the second one, too.) We also do Humpty Dumpty (not sung, just recited) with gestures that go along with it.
