I have heard that our "issues" here so to speak are starting to get more national coverage like what happened in Wisconsin and that there are several unions across the country holding rallies and standing in solidarity with Chicago. If your union is one of them.

    Thank You!

    Thanks Mrs. C.

We're not officially on strike yet- but it is becoming more likely by the day.

    FourSquare are you Track E?

Nope! I am Track R and out of my mind with boredom. I wish we were going back Monday. If we go on strike I will officially be Broke and Wanting To Jump Out The Window.

We are going back Monday. (unless you already did your two days over the summer). The 10 day notice hasn't been given yet. We will for sure work next week.

You could go to there informational picket at a track E school this afternoon.

My school did the flex days, so no PD for me until Wednesday. :) I'm actually at school leveling my library. :)|) WBEZ says No strike notice from Karen, so we will have a first day of school after all!

Glad we can get in there, even though I suspect it wont be for long.

I think it has been well known that the strike wouldn't happen on the 4th.

I support y'all and wish your efforts success, but a strike has to be an extremely frightening and emotional thing for everyone! How do you cope with the stress?

I just pay attention to the news and plan as usual. Nothing I can do. I am the product of two union workers, so I fully support the union and stand with my colleagues.

Here's an article about New York teachers standing in solidarity with Chicago. YEAH, NEW YORK! :)

Actually the threat of the strike is far less stressful than what is coming down the pipes. The end of last year was very stressful, but we're unified and we have support of each other and our fellow teachers across the country.

FourSquare. Two big days coming up. Wednesday meeting at 77 Washington (not sure east or west) and a labor day rally at Daley Plaza.

Me too. I should say we should grab a cup of coffee or something- but I hope it is so big (even bigger than the May 23rd rally) so we can't find each other.

    Interesting....

Going to the union meeting tomorrow. I'm not a delegate so I can't vote, but I want to go.
