Today is the first day of my summer break, and I hate to say this, but I'm already antsy! However, this summer I will be:
*Attending meetings for two grants I received
*Possibly going on a short vacation (where? I don't know :))
*Continuing to get our condo set up
*Creating literacy bags for my classroom

We have a short summer - we'll be back at school in early August.

Anyone else with big or small plans? :)

I have my first week of teaching in... one week! AAAH!

    I still have to:
    Finish my yearly pacing guide
Write my summer lesson plans (we're meeting for three weeks)
    Finish my standards poster
Put together 'mail' for her to open the weeks we aren't together this summer (she's doing a lot of YMCA camps)

That's my immediate list. I'm sure I'll come up with 1,000 more things to do before we really dig deep this September.

Well let me see. So far this summer...

--I have been in two weddings
--I have started my classes for my master's programs (4 classes)
    --Cleaned my room at home
--Done lots of errands that were neglected during the month of May

For the rest of the summer....
    --Complete my master's classes
    --Take several inservice hours
--Start planning out my school year - I have to incorporate our new standards
--Learn and figure out a way to differentiate instruction in my classroom
--Work in my classroom (I could possibly be moving schools! AHHH!)
--Go on a trip to South Dakota - whoo hoo!

That is all that I can think of right now, but I am so braindead from school right now, that I am sure I will have to add stuff later.

There's summer school for certain teachers, but probably not me. School's back in 8/10 & I don't want to think about it!

I've been free since Thurs., the 11th & here's what I plan to do:

    - I'll finally have the chance to go out & get breakfast here & there!

    - Go to Seaworld (haven't been in over 15 yrs)

    - Go to California Adventure (area next door to Disneyland w/ a few rides, but mainly area to stroll around. I've never gone yet)

    - Dine at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. restaurant (never been & love seafood)

    - Go to the movies at least several times. I have 5 free movie passes & definitely want to see Transformers 2!

    - Make my gym my 2nd home

    - Going to the superintendant's secretary retirement party w/ my mom

    - Maybe in July, I can go away for a few days. I want to go to the Mall of America!

My only obligation is taking the GRE on July 1st!

I just called the doctor to have him set up surgery #1 ASAP, then cleaned out the file cabinet :)

First day of vacation today, and I spent it strawberry picking so I can make my jam. (that will be tomorrow!) Caught up with a good friend, getting ready to go to Niagara on the Lake, read a lot of adult books, attend a few classes, and NOT think of school as much as I can!!!!

The first week of summer vacation was really busy running errands. I am taking summer classes towards my master's. August is going to be the busy month with inservices, setting up classroom, doing lesson plans, cheerleading(daughter), and having a baby!

Spent today at school puttering and cleaning in my room, then went to lunch with a group of teachers, which was nice. I'll try to finish up there tomorrow.

The first two weeks of summer is the Great Paper Purge, where I try to catch up with everything that's piled up all year. Then I'm going to try to go one room at a time and get rid of stuff we don't need.

The only trip I have planned is next weekend to see DD and buy her some stuff she needs for her new apartment. And meet the new boyfriend...

Lots of time reading and planning for next year - I'm redoing almost everything.

My other job is paralegal for a bankruptcy attorney. I really want to get better planned for the next teaching year, but we're slammed to the gills with cases and I'm backfilling the full time paralegals while they take vacation.

So much for those plans to catch up on this n that, get serious about exercising, etc, etc, etc.

It is nice on pay day though.

I've been out for 3 weeks already!! We don't go back until the 1st week of August. I've been shopping a lot so far!! (that's the bad part of being off everyday - I spend money!) :)

I've also been to the pool to relax. And I've been eager to exercise rather than feel like it's another thing to get done. And I'm going on a cruise next week!!

Congratulations, uclalum! (again) You will be busy this summer. Will you be trying pepperoni pizza in late August, or is that too early?
I climbed 15 flights of stairs to try to get my daughter to start showing up. (It didn't work. Should have told me something about the daughter--she does everything when SHE feels it's time.)

Tomorrow (Tuesday) is my last day. Thursday I'm taking a plane to Las Vegas for a vacation. I come back at midnight on Wenesday, and the very next morning, I have to be back at work at 8am for summer school set up. (I already told them I might be late..lol.)

Then I worke through the end of July in summer school. We don't have to go back until really late this year -- August 28th!! So I'll have almost a whole month off after teaching summer school.

I had a little girl on May 17 so that's what I'll be doing - not very relaxing, but sooo worth it.

    Garage sale this weekend!

Losing baby weight, landscaping backyard, housework (it's amazing the mess a newborn + a 2 year old can make!).

Our kids don't go back to school till 8/20.

Sounds like there are a lot of people who are taking masters classes? Sounds like a great idea to expand your horizons. But has anyone thought of volunteering or maybe interning? Although you don't get paid for volunteering, it could take you places. Any thoughts?

    Yes, I concur!
This is my first summer EVER not working and it is not fun! I am really bored. I have been going to the gym a lot, watching a ton of TV, napping periodically, making jewelry, cleaning sporadically, spending an enormous amount of time online, and generally behaving in a gluttonous manner.

    Is is August yet?

I have already done a few workshops, have a few more required training dates for new math adoption.

I am laying by the pool every day that it's sunny and finishing books I have neglected...aka "the poor teacher's vacation."

Also watching lots of things on Netflix!!

I've worked on some of my cross-stitch, done some small household projects, cleaned the garage, and worked on some landscaping projects.

DH and I took a short vacation for most of last week, and we're probably going on one other day or two trip in the next couple of weekd.

I'm also hoping to get in some family visits! My grandfather (I've written a lot about him) is moving into assisted living on July 1st and is terribly excited to show off his new community. Also, my husband and I are planning a trip to NYC to see my brother, his stepsister and their SOs. It's been over a year since I've seen my niece!

As for the rest of the summer, I really need to get cracking on it, but all I've done is play Sorority Life on Facebook. Time to head over to the coffee shop with the broken wifi and get some writing done!

We've been out for about a week and a half now. I've been busy moving out of my parents house and into the apartment I'll share with my hubby-to-be!! We're getting married this Saturday (6/27)--can't wait :) We'll be in CT for our honeymoon and then visiting his parents which ends up being about 2 weeks of travel and relaxation!

After we get back I'll be going to a 3 day conference and working on organizing next year's lessons. I was in Kinder this year and they're moving me to 1st, so I've got a lot to do!

Good summer ahead for me :)

    Okay summer plans...
    Personal:
-- Help get my boyfriend set up in an apartment (we have a long distance relationship and we're hoping he moves in state this summer).
-- Start a better diet and exercise routine that I can carry over into the school year.
-- Read a stack of fun books I've been meaning to get to.
-- Get my web site updated with stuff.
-- I'm getting hooked on two games at Facebook--- Restaurant City & Some kind of pet game.

    Professional:
-- Already spent 4 days in a technology workshop.
-- Will be spending another 4 days at NECC (technology conference) in Washington DC.
-- Will spend 2 days at a workshop learning about rubrics.
-- Another stack of books I'm reading about science notebook and formative assessments.
-- Do a 3 day training workshop on using inquiry based curriculums.

Boyfriend and I are planning hopefully to visit Boston and that area of the US since we've never been. I'd love to take my sister how to MI (where my boyfriend is from) and make a trip down to Chicago.

Went camping for 4 days to see the shuttle launch-it didn't; small household projects, watching some TV, meeting friends for breakfast (a treat for me since I can't during the year), going a on a cruise next week, doing a book study with fellow teachers, organizing and cleaning. And I never, ever get bored!:haha:
