Dallas, TX (AP) - A seven year old boy was at the center of a Dallas County courtroom drama yesterday when he challenged a court ruling over who should have custody of him. The boy has a history of being beaten by his parents and the judge initially awarded custody to his aunt, in keeping with child custody law and regulation requiring that family unity be maintained to the highest degree reasonably possible. The boy surprised the court when he proclaimed that his aunt beat him more than his parents and he adamantly refused to live with her. When the judge then suggested that he live with his grandparents, the boy cried and said that they also beat him. After considering the remainder of the immediate family and learning that domestic violence was apparently a way of life among them, the judge took the unprecedented step of allowing the boy to propose who should have custody of him. After two recesses to check legal references and confer with the child welfare officials, the judge granted temporary custody to the Dallas Cowboys professional football team, whom the boy firmly believes are not capable of beating anyone.
Too funny! Reminds me of the text I received about North Texas being under a tornado watch and to head to Cowboy's staduim as there will be no touchdown there! You had me reading with interest then laughing when I got to the end! My DH is a Cowboy fan and he laughed too!
Oooh,..... I get it.... Hmm, still, kinda of a sad joke. I mean, it's funny at the end, but getting to that point, you're all, "awww, that's so horrible" and then you get to the punch line which is funny, but then you're like, "but, now I'm all bummed out".
Oh man, that was good. Thank you for making me have to clean up the tea that found its way all over my desk.
My hubby and I regularly attend Saints games. For the Halloween game, we were going to go as Cowboy fans, and wear jerseys and paper bags on our heads. But we could not find any Cowboys jerseys for sale anywhere...
I live in the suburbs of Houston and Dallas is a huge rivalry. The best costume I saw was Tony Romo... sling and all. MissCelia-You'd have been on TV if you couldda pulled that costume off!
I so did not get it! Totally fooled me. My only excuse is that .... Well, shoot. I have no excuse. Therefore I am going to try and find someone at school who falls for it too and then I won't feel like a total dimwit.
Aluminum can, news papers, plastic bottles, grocery bags, and now jokes. When will the recycling end????
