Very sad. The kids will be sad too.

This doesn't mean I don't understand that this happens with program animals, and it doesn't mean I didn't know it was going to happen. But I am shocked and sad. :(

Awww. I know it is sad to lose an animal... I'm sorry. Maybe the kids can do a special art project and you can read a story about losing pets to help them out (if you think that will help)?

Oh, those are really good ideas. I think I remember the velevitine rabbit even dealing a little with death and illness and moving on and stuff. I am not sure i have a pet passing book ----but i know i have a couple people passing books and the velveteen rabbit book.

    I like those ideas.

maybe painting rocks and making a memorial? hmmm

Sorry to hear about the bunny.

We also lost a classroom pet recently. We have 2 gerbils. A brown one and a white one. When I came in to work last Monday the white gerbil was eating the brown gerbil.

    It was pretty gross. :D

I'm sorry. How sad. Don't be afraid to cry with the kids. I know I would. :(

So sad to hear about your bunny. I can't have a class pet because I am afraid something like that might happen and I would melt. I don't do good when our goldfish die.

we made it through yesterday, ok, they told their parents and they were very mature.....but they didn't fall apart.

We looked at pictures and remembered and we decided to get a new bunny.

So, tonight I picked up a new 4h bunny ---9weeks old. she seems so tiny compared to our big bunny!!

    Thanks for your support.....stay tuned.

    Bibliotherapy

Make sure you get a copy of The Tenth Good Thing About Barney
    by Judith Viorst!

Here's an excerpt from a review on Amazon:

"The Tenth Good Thing About Barney is an excellent springboard for families of every religious persuasion (including agnostics and atheists) to discuss what they feel happens after we die. The book helps children put into words many questions that they might be too young to articulate, and helps parents answer them for him as best you can. The writing is excellent, and perfectly captures the voice of a young boy, and the illustrations are elegant. It's a classic..."

    Good luck!
