So I don't think Staples is going to do the penny folders

Just checked out the Sneak Peak for next week and again the folders are not on sale. I'm beginning to think that they aren't going to go lower than 15 cents. I know I still have 4 weeks before school starts, but I'm getting antsy.

But with my luck, as soon as I start buying them, they will go on sale.

I know what you mean. I'd even take 3-5 cents for folders right now, but I haven't seen them that cheap, either...

Well, if they do go down to a penny, then you can stock up for NEXT year. ;)

I paid 15 cents for mine at Wal Mart yesterday and I'm happy with that. They had a great selection and I like to do 25 folders all the same color. I bought yellow, purple, red, green, and blue. I figured it would be worth it not to have to hunt to find 3 more green or 2 more yellow.

With the way Staples behaved last summer when they were bombarded by teachers buying .01 folders, it wouldn't surprise me if they chose to skip that particular penny sale. My experience was fine, but I remember people posting on the board about how they were treated horribly by the staff and managers.

Really? I wasn't on here last year, I didn't know people had bad experiences. I go to 3 Staples near me and they were all great. A lot of teachers in there and they all seemed very helpful to us. I hope they don't stop the folder sales.

This is, usually, the best price we see here--a couple of years ago I got them for 12 cents, but I've never seen that again.

I like WalMart's folders better. If I'm going to pay 15 cents, I guess I'll get them there. If they do go on sale, I'll stock up.

When I was there Sunday morning, DH was surprised at how the teachers were stalking the sale stuff. The manager was helping me find something and agree with me when I said that if he thought this was crazy, he should come with me when the folders go for a penny. He didn't indicate it wouldn't happen, and seemed to feel it would.

I think Big Lots has a pack of ten for a dollar in their ad this week. Assorted colors.

They are 10 cents a piece at Meijer. I know that's a regional store, though.

I bought the vinyl ones last year at Staples. Anyone seen the vinyl one's cheap? Someone just told me they have them at Walgreens for 33 cents. I'll have to check that out, but I'm hoping for cheaper.

Thanks! I JUST clicked over here from checking their website. I think I'm going to go ahead and buy them at that price. It's going to make me too nervous to wait any longer!

Can you ask a manager if they know of any future sales not listed?

The manager at my local Staples was not sure when, or if, they were going to have the sale. I found them for 10 cents at a local overstock store, Marc's.

I broke down and purchased 140 folders at Staples for $.15 each. That is $21 rather than $1.40. I don't believe that Staples is going to hold that sale this year.

    9 cents

I got 12 for 9 cents a piece at walgreens two weeks ago. The lady said they were going fast and I told here that this was my third trip and she let me and my boyfriend (also a teacher) get as many as we needed for that price.:thumb:

Office Max has them now. Limit 6, but 12 for teachers.

    Office Max/Staples

I just went to the Office Max website and found the weekly sales flyer for my area in which 2-pocket and pronged folders are available for 1 cent each. However, the Office Max in my state is over 35 miles away, so I gave Staples a call and asked if they would be willing to match the Office Max price. The man I spoke with said that if I printed off the sales flyer and brought it in, Staples should accept that price. Now, since the Office Max flyer states a 6 folder maximum, I'm not sure if Staples will give me an exception, but will keep you all updated. :)

Success!! The manager at my local Staples was more than happy to match the Office Max folder sale at 1 cent each. Unlike the OM maximum of 6 folders, the manager at Staples let me have 25 as a teacher. I was also able to get "filler paper", a maximum of 5 packages, for a penny each. My total sale rang up at 32 cents. WooHa!!

The manager also told me that he will be surprised if Staples does not have the penny sale for their folders in another week or two. So, let's keep our eyes open!! :)

I was at my local Staples this weekend for paper and noticed boxes upon boxes of those folders that were a penny last year. I would be surprised if there was not some kind of sale on them at Staples.

I broke down and went ahead and bought them at Walmart. If they go on sale in time at Staples, I'll buy more and save the good ones for project folders.

Well, they aren't on the sneak peek for next week either.

School starts next week, so I guess I'm going to have to buy them now.

If they end up going to a penny later, I'll stock up for next year ;)
