What's your schedule like? I had a very broken-up schedule a couple years ago (i.e. I think 9 hour-or-more blocks in the entire week!). It wasn't my favorite, but I did eventually adjust to it and ended up doing quite a few more mini-blocks, or found ways to utilize the breakages in the middle of a block as an opportunity to formatively assess where they were at and what I needed to adjust as they continued independent/group work when they returned.

I feel this way too! We have a new schedule and it is like we are moving everywhere and get so little time! Our principal decided to put everything into 45 minute blocks. Math only has ONE BLOCK. Last year I taught math for 1 hour 15 minutes. That is a BIG CHANGE! Yikes!

It is hard to teach with such a short block :( We have short periods also.
