Hope everyone had an awesome few months of rest, relaxation, and rejuvenation. I know some of you are still out there having your fun, too.

Turns out I had a really awesome summer. Summer camp at Ramapo for Children has always been a special event for me. I've worked there several summers since becoming a teacher and I have to say that the intervention training is the best anywhere. I'm so in love with the organization that I resigned from my teaching position at my former school to take a facilitator position with their year round program. That means a hurried move from MS to NY. Strange what the fortunes of life brings to us and the challenges that it creates for us to overcome. I'm excited for a new chapter and I wish everyone here the same sentiment with your year to come.

    Welcome back.

How funny-- when I read "Ramapo" I thought of the rest stop on the NY Thruway, but didn't realize you actually meant NY.

Best wishes as you begin this new chapter!!

A word to the wise for a new New Yorker:

before you think you'll need it, invest in a parka, snow pants and snow boots. You can get the parka at Lands End Overstocks, the boots at Payless fairly soon, and the snow pants at Target, Walmart or Models all fairly cheap. Once autumn hits, put an ice scraper, and a spare hat and gloves into your car for the winter.

Oh, and welcome to New York :)

    Welcome to the NY area!

I had a great summer...I was at the Jersey shore ( no Snookie) at least once a week. 2 professional workshops. Tutored an average of 2 hours per week, Don't go back until September 1, still have some summer fun in store!

Thank you. Lived in Northern Idaho for a while. I got it about the cold.

@ Upsadaisy, I'll be facilitating retreat groups through a rope's course, working with a teen group doing community service, and acting as a life coach for young adults having 'failure to launch' moments.

    Sounds like a neat job!

My summer was very quick. My last day was June 10th, and I went back on August 1st. Then I spent one week moving my MIL from a farm to an apartment, a week on vacation, and almost a week getting my classroom ready.

Took the kids to the beach for 5 days, a drive in movie and
    lots of day stuff.
Summer was hot and and seemed to rush by.

Just met my first two classes (K and 1st) Still hot but bearable. Now I have 2-5th to get in before 2pm.

Well, I didn't travel anywhere this time like I alwasy try to do every summer, just a couple of day trips & lots of shopping, some movies, dining out, staying up late, etc. Most importantly, starting grad school classes.

I'll always remember summer of 2011 as the summer I finally got the ball rolling towards getting a job in the field I switched gears to (from teaching) & hopefully the start of many more wonderful things because my life has stayed the same (jobwise) from '99-'06 & then again from '07 - now, but it looks like it's about to change!

Securis, enjoy your new job & new place to live! I hope to have BOTH before the year's over too. (I'll be starting the new job 1st.)
