So... how do you make snow days happen?

I may come from the "Greatest snow on earth" state, but I also do not live in the mountains and it's still a friggin' desert. It's snowing right now and there's lots of "winter storm warnings", whatever this means. Currently, my lawn is covered.

So... those of you who live in snowy states, how do you make snow days happen? Do you summon snow spirits? Pay someone in the weather-making industry off?

(I create this thread completely in jest, of course).

Around here the preferred methods include:
    1. Pajamas inside out and backwards.
    2. Throwing ice cubes into the lawn the night before.

Pajamas inside out and backwards, and sleep with a spoon under your pillow. My students look at me like I'm crazy when I tell them that though lol.

Apparently, telling myself that the worst that would happen is a delay, and to have everything all set and ready to go. That, or not bringing anything home that could've ended up being worked on that day. Or, have an observation in a serialized subject like math coming mid-week. The weather gods like to spite me here :p

We have a snow day tomorrow......with NO SNOW (the best kind of day)!!!! Our school is apparently without power due to Friday's storm, but my town hasn't lost power at all.

Well, as someone facing another power outage for another 5 days, I'm thinking that having a hubby who refuses to get a generator, even as we are throwing away ALL of the contents of fridge and freezers should go to the top of your list. Apparently having one person in a household INSIST that snowstorms are freaks of nature is enough to insure that you experience the "groundhog day" of snow storms.

Well we had one Monday. Now we have another one today, and there actually is a lot of snow. This was our 3rd snow day for the year. Any beyond 3, and we start losing days off spring break....so I hope we don't have another one tomorrow (a delayed opening tomorrow would be nice!)

We had snow days on Monday and Tuesday this week. The key is to be totally prepared to go to work. I didn't bring home anything extra to work on, I packed my lunch the night before and set my alarm.

Well, yeah... but as parents we like to keep him on the fence as long as possible and don't actually tell him when the call comes through. We'll tease him that his younger brother's school was cancelled but we don't know anything about his. ;D

For some reason, he hasn't figured out that the principal tweets out every time there's a delay or closure, and the tweet goes on the school website...
