I have taught for 20 years now with the majority of my time being in K with a year of that time in first and a year in second. So, if you think about it, given that I graduated when I was in my early twenties I'm no young chicken. I will admit that doing the same thing over and over has gotten old and the older I've gotten my patience has gotten thinner. So, here's why I am so HAPPY!!! I just accepted a position at another school as a reading interventionists or possibly second or third, but definitely NOT K! A new challenge sounds like FUN! Woohoo!!!:lol:

    That's wonderful!

I firmly believe that mixing it up now and then makes us better teachers.

Congrats! Mixing it up can be good...I'm going into year 10 of my career and have taught K, 1, 2, 3, and basic skills. It keeps me on my toes...but I'm happy to be staying in 2nd grade again and in the same room

The most awesome part of this is that YOU realized that you needed to switch things up a bit--and you took the bull by the horns!

    Congrats!!! :thumb:

My experience is doing new stuff, while scary, is usually energizing and very rewarding. Good luck and enjoy the new challenges.
Reading Who Moved My Cheese is a great way to prepare for a new position.

I've found that I don't like teaching the same grade year in & year out. After 3 or 4 years I'm ready for a change. I'm ready for a change. My P knows I'm ready for a change. The only question is, is he going to move me? And if he is, to what grade & when is he going to tell me?

Although, I don't like being in limbo like this, it's exciting knowing that I may not be going back to K next month!

You know I have Coach! Several times. :p A quick read, but a good read! I reccommend it to anyone who thinks that they are destined to do only what they are currently doing. Makes you take a second look at yourself and say "Hhhmmm! Maybe not?" :thumb::wow:

Congratulations! I'm switching grade levels this year, too. Sometimes a bit of change is good.

Help me out Coach! I'm not sure and can't find it on my bookshelf. Just look it up on Amazon or go to your local book store and ask for Who Moved My Cheese. They'll be able to help you.

More common sense in that little book than you can imagine.
