    Hi!

I am so excited that I am moving from first to second!

I have a few questions for you wonderful second grade teachers:

-do the children still enjoy sitting on the carpet for "chapter book story time?"
-will they still enjoy manipulative based literacy centers?
-will they still benefit from self-guided math stations? (flash cards, task cards, spinners, dice games, etc).
-are there any literacy centers that I employ in first grade that they're too old for? (read/write the room, phonics center, listening center, etc).
-I'm sure my school sets a standard, but for how long an evening should homework be given?
-Would they still benefit from a reading log?

Thank you so much ~ and sorry for all my questions! I am so truly excited to be in the second grade!!

Congratulations! Are you looping with your class?

I do almost all my lesson on the carpet, I think my children are more alert and attentive when they are closer and together.

I do a lot of the math games as well. I don't have a listening center but I think if I did my students would really benefit from it.

I am doing a reading log also. My students are more independent now and like filling them out better then anything else.

    Good luck :)
