So this first year of teaching has been amazing. Awesome students, great administration, supportive team, and I finally feel confident in what I'm doing (for the most part). My only worries before Friday was whether I wanted to switch to the hs level instead of my middle school position. Well, my principal approached me at the end of the day Friday (strange, but I didn't think anything of it). He then proceeded to tell me that there is a strong chance I might not being able to stay at ______ Middle School because of the recession. He said he would fight for me if its only a 5-10% shortage in the budget but anything more than that, there will be nothing he can do to keep me on!!!! I am shocked, bummed, and so worried. It took me all summer to find this job and now I'm most likely facing a pink slip this spring. Anyone else get the "talk" yet?
