Anyone else sick of snow days? We are going on our 5th snow day this year (tomorrow) and it is way to much!

We have had three staff only days and six snow days. We have missed as many as 28 days, so this isn't horrible. I do like my days spread out, not all at once.

The switch is messed up in my truck. So I don't even have 4-wheel drive. We took DH's vehicle to the store today. It's a minivan, but did okay. He sold his truck recently. We haven't bought anything new yet.

DH has to go to work tomorrow. They have a non-traditional day, but they have to work in the building tomorrow. He worked from home today.

I'll probably have a staff day on Friday, but I was scheduled to be out already. My mom has chemo, so I'll be taking her for that.

We have to make all of ours up. Typically we just add them to the end of the year. Some years we miss so many that we take spring break, extend days, or go on Saturday. We have 7 days staff can work without students. That's because of the difference between teacher contract days and student required hours.

One year we only had one day for snow, and we were out May 11. A neighboring district was out April 28.

I'm in Kentucky. The eastern part with mountains. The central part doesn't miss nearly as much for snow.

We've had four or five now. I've lost count. However, Ohio is now on hours, so we can miss quite a bit before we have to make anything up. We have way over the required hours.

We are now having virtual learning days. We make epages and the students are supposed to work on assignments. My issue is my students have moderate disabilities and aren't really able to log on.

But it's better than making up the days.

I've been incredibly lucky in my time full-time teaching - only 4 or 5 days total over the four years, one of which we didn't make up because it was just a one-school-power-outage issue. Last year alone, a neighboring state, just 200ish miles south, had 9 or 10.

This year, we've been perfect - no days away. Our only snow was, fittingly, smack dab in the middle of winter break. Hoping it stays that way!

We've had 4 snow days so far, in Ohio, and I haven't been able to use my car! I'm starting to feel like Jack Nicholson in The Shining being stuck in this house! :tearsofjoy:

We cancelled school here yesterday for snow that started at 1:00 pm. Not all districts, but mine did. I'm all for safety, but we are probably going to have to cancel midterms and we will probably lose all of spring break at this point.

So far for January we've been in school for four total days (two half days).
We had a two hour early release on Wednesday, the 3rd. Then we were out Thursday, Friday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and had a two hour delay on Thursday. Monday of course was MLK day. We were in school on Tuesday. School was canceled completely on Wednesday and today (Thursday). We are finally back for a full day tomorrow.
I wouldn't complain if it never snowed again.
I've lived here my whole life and never seen it like this.

I haven't had a snow day in 7 years. The joys of living in Illinois - everyone knows how to deal with snow since it snows a lot every year.
Everyone remembers snowmageddon / snowpocalypse of Feb 2011 :p since snow days are rare!

I am in Ohio and we have had one snow day. Even though Ohio is on hours, we will make up any days missed after five.
