I realized at the end of the year that I was calling my third graders "Smart Cookies" all year, especially when they asked me what kind of cookie they are. I told them they could be whatever kind they wanted, some decided they wanted to be Oreo's, some Chocolate chips, and a few various other types. So now my second graders this year will be cookies all year long. To extend that I want to use that as my classroom theme (instead of last years Smiles). I'm looking for ideas you may have. So far I've collected: First Day Bulletin Welcome Board: "Welcome to the new Batch". Foil cookie sheets with the names of all my students on Chocolate Chip cookies. Classroom Management: for everyday a student doesn't get their name on the board they get to put their name on a cookie card to put in the cookie jar on my desk. Names will be drawn on Friday for prizes. Bonus entries for showing good character and the seven teachings being followed (I teach on a native reserve). Number Line: Cookie jars Word family charts: Glasses of milk Classroom Library: the "Reading Cafe" where students will look for smart cookie books. The rules for this will be on large cookie cutouts Any ideas to expand this?
