Your best bet, frankly, is likely to be building your own study guide; 6990 is new enough, and taken by few enough people, that reliable test-preparation publishers probably don't see a profit in producing materials for it. Use the online free study guide - including its sample questions - as a source of terms to look up online. If you can find materials for 6011, they may also be helpful in clarifying concepts.
Question 1 I made a 165 and need a 166. Should I bite the bullet and pay for a score review? Question 2 I scored a 165 and needed a 166 on my slla exam for Louisiana. Is it possible to get certified in another state and have my certification transferred to LA? A 165 is passing in many states. Any help is appreciated. I've already given ETS $850, not trying to make it $1275.

Score verification generally produces a change of result only when there's evidence of a testing irregularity - for instance, the score report asserts that one left a given constructed response blank when one knows that one did in fact answer it. On the other hand, and if the price isn't too high, paying for score verification can assuage a test taker's case of the what-ifs. Check the test schedule, though, to make sure that score verification won't delay you retaking the test past some deadline date that you need to observe. 2. Certifying out of state solely to certify in state can be a bit of a crapshoot. If a school district or other hiring body is waiting eagerly for you to pass SLLA so you can be hired, your best bet might be to have a quiet, private discussion with whoever in the organization really, really knows the ins and outs of certification. Failing that, look around for an, um... (TG calibrates quickly: This is Louisiana, and Louisiana does parishes, not counties: check)... parish-level or region-level education authority that's staffed by live people who know from certification - though the organization that has a vested interest in you getting hired might be likelier to know the limits within which a licensure candidate can get away with being, shall we say, creative.

Lynn, I am in the Liberty University's Ed D program, too. I took 6011 and failed it twice by 2 points (161). I decided to take 6990 and passed with flying colors (160-you need 146 in Virginia). I hated doing 7 essay questions, 4 essays were better for me because my attention span was not up for 7..lol..I also believe 120 MC is way to go as well. I simply used the ETS study guide. I was curious about the breakdown in scores. I am nervous about the constructive response questions and the time allotted on the SLLA 6011. Does anyone have any advice on how to better prepare for that section? Secondly, can anyone share with me the breakdown in your passing score? In my state we must make a 163, I feel confident in the multiple choice section. I have taken several "practice" test and I have scored above 85% on each.
Use bullet points for your answers. Don't use paragraphs. Get right to the point. Answer all questions as an administrator and not a teacher. You'll have 21 answers in total as there are three parts to each of the seven questions.
Let me add a few things to whizkid's apt suggestions: Unless a question specifies that you're writing for some other audience, write for fellow administrators: use administrator buzzwords as the insiders' shorthand that they are. And the object of the game is not to write pretty prose, it's to convey knowledge and authoritativeness to an audience of peers - that is, fellow administrators who want evidence that you're ready to become, as it were, a junior associate in the firm. It's fine to use paragraphs within bullets and bullets within paragraphs. (Pro tip, if you like real bullets: holding ALT (or OPTION, on a Mac) and typing 8 will give you •. On the other hand, hyphen - and asterisk * are perfectly good for quick-and-dirty bullets.) Sentence fragments in bullet lists will not doom a response that's knowledgeable. Since, as whizkid tells us, each question has three parts, it's prudent to signal when you transition to a new part. Double-spacing as for a new paragraph works, and might be faster than cobbling together transition phrases. Yes, lead with your brief answer to whatever question you're dealing with, and then support the socks off your brief answer with evidence and reasoning, all couched in the aforementioned insiders' jargon. Here's an exercise for you: imagine that each part of a constructed response is the question stem to a multiple-choice question, and pull together a correct multiple-choice answer to it. Another exercise: take a multiple choice question you can answer well, and outline - I said, outline - an explanation for why the answer is correct.
How long did it take you to get your SLLA scores back? Online it says the release date for this past testing session is July 5, does it normally release on that day given or earlier? Curious how it will play out due to Independence Day on July 4th!

I'm new to this; as in officially signing up. I want to thank y'all because I would look at this, on the low, MONTHs before taking the leap and taking the test. It helped keep me encouraged. Thank y'all for that. I took the 6011 back in April. Praise the Lord, I passed it on the first try. The ETS Study guide helped me with the multiple choice portion. I would chunk the questions and do 15 at a time, answer with my own general knowledge, then analyze just those 15. As far as the constructed responses, I first answered them on my own, then I set times to meet with the APs in my building (or talked to APs I knew) to ask them how THEY would answer the questions. I would use their feedback to gauge how close or far I was. That helped me GREATLY. As other have said, use insider knowledge jargon in your answers (like the word stakeholder lol) and answer questions from the administrators' perspective in considering ALL affected parties, not just teachers and students. Oh, for the results....the wait was EXCRUCIATING to me. I like getting immediate results. I knew that results take 10-15 business days after the test date. I didn't consider that it is 10-15 days after the testing WINDOW. So if I took my test on April 5 and the window ended on the 12th, the countdown starts on the 13th. Hope this helps.
Yeah they are. I took the 6011 test because the standards match up to the ones I’ve been studying in my current program. It will be phased out, here in VA, in Dec. 2019.
I was wondering if LA was going to follow suit with other states that require the 6011. I think I'd prefer the new test because it has fewer CR. If you Google SLLA passing score, the first result is the current passing scores for the states that have switched to the 6990. LA might align to those scores in September.
Took the test today and it was difficult... I hope I passed. For both sections I needed all the time and ran short on time for the constructed responses. They study guide was good practice, but the multiple choice questions were significantly different. Unfortunately, I ordered a book to help me prepare and it just arrived today after I took the test. However, I would recommend "Practicing the art of leadership" by Green as it has many study materials that look similar to the test I took today. Also, I think the ETS study guide and practice test are worth review even though questions were pretty different. Good luck to those who are taking the test in the future.

Hi all! Just wanted to post on here since I was scouring the internet for study resources for the new slla 6990 test.. and really could not find much of any information at all! I took the test in July and just got my results back.. I passed! Needed a 151 and got a 184 so I wanted to share how I approached studying for this exam to help those who are preparing and were in the same boat as me. I made my own flash cards with all of the ISLLC standards found on the slla 6990 eta study companion. I spaced this out over two weeks so it wasn’t a bear to tackle and study all of the standards at once. Knowing these standards were very helpful when it came to my constructed responses.. using key terms and understanding how to utilize these terms within case studies helped a lot. During this time of making flash cards I also searched for any free test questions I could online, and took those. This definitely helped. About 5 days before the test I bought the ets practice test for $20 and broke it up into sections since you can go back and take it multiple times. I would focus on 30 questions a day and then make flash cards for any key terms I did not know in those questions. I also set aside time to practice the constructed response questions and timed myself while responding. Overall, I spent the good majority of two weeks preparing for this exam! The exam itself was long. I needed every last minute for both sections. I had 25 min left after the multiple choice section and needed that to go back and review all the questions I marked. I had about 1 minute left over after the constructed response section. Definitely practice writing a constructed response in about 15-18 minute.. there is not much time to sit and think about what to write! Some of the questions were common sense but some were difficult and I definitely felt like my flash cards of key terms I didn’t know in the ets practice test helped a bunch. It took exactly 15 days to get my scores back... felt like forever!! Hope this helps anyone who is preparing for the test. good Luck and let me know if you have any questions!
Hello everyone! I just took the SLLA 6011 test today and I’m not feeling confident at all. I need a 163 passing score. I used the ets test prep, but it seemed like many of the questions on the test could have two possible correct answers so I found myself second guessing on many of the MC on today. The CR was super hard because there wasn’t enough time for this section. Any tips for test prep, because I’m sure I’ll be taking this exam again.

I took the Praxis 6011 on August 10 and results were to be posted online the evening of August 30. My scores have yet to be posted. Did anyone else take the 6011 in the July 29, 2019 - August 10, 2019 test window - if yes, have you received your scores? It seems as though I’ve been waiting forever and am getting worried I won’t get scores until after holiday weekend. Any insight is welcomed! Thanks!!
I took it on August 9, and the scores were posted on your ETS page around 5 p.m. yesterday. ETS sent an email around 8:30 p.m. saying that scores are posted.
Go to ETS website. You need to sign into your sls account. The same account you used to register for the SLLA.
I am sorry...we are talking about two separate tests. I thought you meant school leader's test, but scores for both tests come out at same time. Good luck!
