Cool. Feels good when coursework and testing is all over. I finished my degree in August 2016 and my testing last November. Haven't done a paper in over a year!
That's awesome. I finish in May and will be looking to move into an admin position as soon as possible.
I want to be an assistant principal to start. Feel free to connect with me on Linkedin at David DiCaprio.
Has anyone taken the SLLA lately? I just took it 12/15/17. I am not sure how I did. I receive results on 1/5/17, so I guess I will see then. I felt ok with multiple choice section, but essay section was more of a challenge. I got through all 7 questions but definitely a challenge, nonetheless. I need 163 to start my internship (administration). And does anyone know how hard it is to receive a Virgin Islands or Guam admin cert? I believe Guam 's score (or Virgin Islands) is only156.
I got scores on 1/5/18...unfortunately I did not pass I got 161, soooo close I'm thinking about paying to get a rescore... I thought I'd be close, however I do feel if I have another crack at it I'd pass... I did very good on MC and most of CR other than one question/section...I will keep you posted
Yes I did... my problem is I got my Ed S from Liberty University (Virginia)and to totally "complete" the administration add on you must do a internship, which I can't until I get score (163)... I'm going to apply for Tennessee just to see what happens I guess I saw your post about the form which Kiberty must sign off on... maybe I can talk to them to see if they'd sign off on it...is it tough to get a Kentucky license? Virginia does reciprocity which any state too.... I don't want to take it again if I don't have to I schedule to take again March 16 to give myself some time to work around my situation etc. any suggestions?
It wouldn't hurt to ask. For Kentucky, you'd have to do a year in Kentucky as an administrator to get the full license.
I just emailed the department chair at Liberty University about signing off on form. I will keep you posted I'm good if they do because as you said a have enough for Tennessee. I probably won't know anything till next week, but it is a start.
Just received some great news @futuremathsprof Liberty University has agree to sign off on my Tennessee passing score. They said since they had reciprocity with Va they allow my score and sign "completed teacher program" form for TN department of ed. The only downside is I must do my internship first and that will be summer session (summer school elementary principal) after I complete it which will be around end of July they ll sign off then I guess I'll send to TN at that point then by August I get my TN/VA license... that's for the advice man i genuinely appreciate it.. I'm glad this process is done with for most part.. this SLLA thing is for the birds it means nothing really definitely won't say how good/bad of a school leader one will become
I am taking my test next Friday and have been taking every practice test I can find. Has anyone determined by chance on how the multiple choice is weighted. I saw where someone said they thought it was 70 percent? would that make each question worth 1.4 points of the composite?
Not sure how it is weighted but that sounds pretty close I saw in another post that someone broke it down to the same as you mentioned...as far as practice test I loved their version (20 bucks) online through ETS it was very helpful...the multiple choice section isn't too bad a lot of common sense just concentrate on critical response questions...good luck next Friday!
The Study Companion, page 5, gives the numbers: the constructed-response percentages add up to 30% and the multiple-choice to 70%. Percentages within the question types can vary - Teaching and Learning could sprout a couple extra selected-response questions or lose a couple to one of the other domains, and of course there's always the matter of the selected-response questions that don't count either for or against one's score - but they won't vary across the question types, so on every version of this test, 70% of points will be in selected response.
Tony, they're questions that are being field-tested; they're new, and the test company wants to ensure that bugs are eliminated from a question, and get a sense of how hard the question seems to test takers, before springing it on test takers for real.
I just took the SLLA exam yesterday and not feeling very optimistic. I have studied for months. I found some of the questions to be the same as in practice tests but others were very unfamiliar. There were a few about special education that I did not know which surprised me since I have taken the laws courses. I should have spent more time practicing the extended response questions. I type slowly and do not feel like I wrote enough.
Welcome to A to Z, and hugs. It's fairly common for people to walk out of a test sure that they fell short, only to find when the score report arrives that they passed.
I took it in January and scored 181. I did the following: studied for two weeks four times a week studied the ISLLC Standards Purchased a took the ETS Practice exam twice Studied this book: The New Instructional Leadership Used this free online resource: New School Leader- SLLA study guide Hope this helps someone!
Hello, Can anybody give me the best resources for studying for the SLLA. I am going to take it in April and I am trying to get all the help I can get preparing for it. Thanks in advance for your help.
The practice test on the ETS website. On test day, place most of your focus on the multiple choice as this is where most of your points will come from. For the written responses, use bullet points, don't write entire paragraphs, get straight to the point, that will give you more time. What state are you taking it for?

Hello everyone... My name is Todd and I am from New Jersey... Feeling incredibly bummed out... I took the test today, and failed to finish the constructed response questions... I feel pretty confident about the multiple-choice questions, but I’m almost positive that will be not be enough for me to pass. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...thank you
Question for those of you who have taken this test on the constructed response portion. I have read where many of you have said you have just used bullets. Do you bullet a lot or just 3 - 5 bullets since have to move on to next question? How do you study for the CR questions? That portion has me a little worried since I am not sure on how to study this. Appreciate all your help
how many bullets on average you put down for each of the three parts, going to venture the bullets reinforced the standards
