Slightly worried new English teacher

    I think it's common to not have read some of the stories and novels you will be teaching. There's just so many out there. The important thing is get to know those pieces before you teach them. Stay ahead of the kids!

    I teach Brit Lit but only had one Brit Lit course and an elective on 1900-1920 Brit Lit. I found it my easiest course to teach though in some ways because there's so much that should be included like Beowulf, Chaucer, Shakespeare, etc... My sophomore class it's just all up to me and what I want.

    There are things I have to re-teach or re-check for myself every year. These are mostly formatting things to see what's changed in MLA or lesser known grammar rules.
