Any users of Singapore Math? We will be using it next year...but don't get trained until the first week of school.

I was hoping to prepare a bit beforehand but don't know where to start.

    Thanks!

    Yipes!

It's an excellent program which focuses on problem-solving without sacrificing a mastery of mathematical rules. However, schools that have implemented it have indicated teacher training is the most challenging aspect, as the teacher materials are generally skimpy. A week seems far, far too short to do good teacher training.

    3sons,
Our school gave us ONE 40 minute in-service, and a powerpoint with 7 slides on it!!! I have found some courses online I"m going to take, because that just wasn't enough to "train me" in how to do it.

But now... I've had 8 inservices over the past few years on how to spot child neglect, 3 on how to use smartboards (of which we have none) and 5 on how to use Kidspiration -- which took me all of 10 minutes on my own to figure out. Go figure!
