LOTS of storage. I have quite a bit of storage, but nothing like that!!! It probably helps you quite a bit to remain organized. I think I have 8 cabinets, 22 regular cubbies, 8 tall cubbies, and 20 shelves... but I like how you have the smaller and larger cabinets.

I had a teacher last year bring in this amazing cubby cabinet she built and painted our school colors. It held the plastic shoeboxes with the covers from the store PERFECTLY. Perfect length, height... everything.

I like the color scheme in your room, too.

Jennifoo, I like your whole room... but I REALLY like the Venn Diagram chart. I've seen it before.

Grade 1&2, are you able to paint your own room?? If so, you're lucky!! :woot:

Yeah. Now I know I can treat it like a word when kids include it in their writing. Last year, I was leery of it. :sorry: to my kids.

Nope, the school painted all the rooms yellow on three walls and the other wall was a different color in each room. I loved that yellow room ! I will really miss it ! I hope my new school's principal plans on painting the rooms in a near future.

Okay next year I think I HAVE to paint blue and yellow. I adore it. If only I could stay in the same room for more than one year...

Our rooms are white and cranberry (white walls, cranberry cabinets and cubbies)...

The cubbies were recently repainted, by the way. :)

I like our color scheme, but your yellow room was very appealing. It also made the room soothing for your first graders.

Hey, sort of off the classroom photo subject, but does anybody else use the word "bezonkers" to describe somebody freaking out, as in, "Maggy really went bezonkers in the backseat on the way to the vet!"? It's a combination of beserk and bonkers. My kids were asking me if I invented the expression the other day, but I honestly can't remember.

I spent last week in my room, and I'm going to put in three more days this week (Inclusion training the other two), so I should have some pix after that. :)

Is that built in storage? WITH CUBBIES? You mean schools exist with more than a small counter with cabinets beneath it? WHOO HOO! There's hope yet!
Really though, you've no idea how many storage things I've had to buy (and...uh...'borrow' from the school storage room) last year. However, due to a construction mistake, I've got the ONLY general education room in the SCHOOL with a closet. This closet is SO big it's almost another classroom! But since I was labeled the science guy it's jammed with equipement since I was the only one who could take care of it all! :)
I'll be returning to my room this week, so I'll have pics soon!

If you're referring to me, yes. Built-in storage!!

I should share what that area looks like now. I am not letting the kids keep traditional cubbies this year, though...

I wish I had more storage in the classroom. I'd like to actually have shelves for my books!

That I did supply on my own, as you know. :) I wasn't interested in having my classroom library next to the sink, though it would have worked if I didn't have nice bookshelves.

dumbdeity - I would be thrilled with a counter or even one cabinet. Sigh. Our rooms are pitiful. Every day I go in there and have to make some kind of half-assed (can I say that?) home-made method to accomplish something simple I get annoyed. I just wish I had at least two white boards, or one large one, even, so I could put stuff on it - like my word wall. Today I used up a whole roll of Mavalus tape trying to do something that pulled the paint off the wall, and ended up stuck to everything in my hands. I tore it all off and started over. Now the words are stuck on posterboard with glue and they can't come off, which I'm not happy with.

And I also dragged in 3 small cupboards that I got at a garage sale for $12 apiece (a good deal, actually). If the school would only outfit a real classroom, I wouldn't have to do all this........

All the classrooms at our school are painted grey :p . My Pre-k room was painted primary colors (one color on each wall). Last summer, they came in and painted it grey  . It is so depressing. What's worse, any furniture a teacher brings in (shelves, filing cabinets, etc) has to be painted grey also (so it coordinates) . I just painted my beautiful sunshine yellow shelf a not so nice grey:| .
What Are They Thinking?! The whole school looks like a jail. I understand that one color makes it easier for touch ups, but at least pick a nice color. I bring in lots of color with my posters and book baskets, but they can only do so much.

What is mavalus tape? I was told we aren't allowed to use masking tape, staples or thumb tacks in the wall. How the heck are we suppose to hang stuff up.

You can get it at your teacher supply store. It works well on cinder block walls.

Well, I went to my classroom today and finished most of what I needed to do to get it ready for school in two weeks. Just have a few organizational things to clean up. This year I added curtains to my windows and put up bright fabric to cover my bulletin boards. Click on the link to see my slideshow!

Mavalus tape is supposed to be removable. I guess it just doesn't work on painted wallboard too well. I stapled up red poster board with my word wll on top of the messed up wall. I'll worry about it next year.

Well, Jaime, what can you use, then?

Did you tape your fabric on your cabinets where you have your behavior chart? If so, what did you use to make it stay up?

    :( :( :( :(!!!!

The school should at least put a color along with the gray, like a blue or cranberry, to somewhat cheer up the color scheme.

I think I'd go loony :woot:, but I'd try to find a way to brighten up the room with a nice rug in the classroom library, posters on the walls (even if they're adhered with scotch tape), and... anything... to make it bright.

No, I stapled it around the edges. The border covers up the staples so you can't tell and staples allow you to pull it tight so it doesn't look baggy.

Each bag has a month on it. I give my students a birthday pencil and a birthday sticker badge. The pencil is taped to the back of the sticker where their names are written. When it is their birthday, they get to get their sticker and pencil out of the bag and wear one of my birthday hats for the day.

It's the Carson Dellosa "Big Tree". I've had it for several years, so I'm not sure if they still make it.
