TeachGrade1, I love your room, especially the dog theme! That is sooo cute. All the BB sayings are a riot.
TeachGrade1 your room looks sooooo inviting and colorful! I like the things already waiting on the desks! The dog theme is PERFECT for first graders!!!!!
pictures! I finally got some pictures taken today. The photos at the beginning are before's. I am new to the school. Classroom Photos
I just added 30 photos in the General Education category. Wow... I haven't been here in a while! I should catch up.
Thanks! thank you guys. The letters are from Creative Teaching Press and my teacher store had them, but they were in the catalog also. Here is the link Poppin Patterns
Teachgrade1 you have a darling room. I love the dog theme, kids in first LOVE Clifford. What a great idea for star of the week too!
The room was set up for open house. There was an apple in each white bag. The poem about parents being teachers was attatched to the outside. "An apple for the teacher is really nothing new Except when you remember parents are teachers too!"
Thanks for that! I always wanted to do that and now I have a great idea on how to do that poem/apple thing with my parents. Great idea!!
Glad you can use it! I found it on this site two years ago. My whole team does it now too. I get compliments from parents a lot also.
Wow - I am so inspired! I worked in my room last week and mu husband helped me build a tree for a reading area. It still needs something though - middle school classrooms can be so sterile. My main problem is I have NO storage, just a few bookshelves. I threw up a piece of cheap material from Wal Mart over a few shelves to cover up my junk. lol I start staff development tomorrow so I will have to see if I can snap a few pics while I am there.
I also use the poem about parents too! I print it on apple paper and the kids write "my parents taught me to ____."
Okay, here is my classroom. This link should work! http://s228.photobucket.com/albums/ee260/misscolvinsclass/
Thanks! Actually, I got a few of my ideas from Mrs. Wright. So, thanks Mrs. Wright (if you're reading this!)
Great room Deb! I love the taco talk-o-meter- so cute! Where did you get that large wooden book rack? It looks like it holds a ton
Thanks TeacherC! Actually all of the furniture was in my classroom when I came to the school! I was extremely lucky! I love the wooden book rack, though. I don't know what I'd do without it.
Where did you get the Taco-Meter idea from? What are the different levels? I was trying to come up with a system for measuring noise. That one is really cute. Thanks!
i know i'd seen another version of the talk-o-meter... found a link to an old thread that does it a bit differently. i'm going to make one right now! http://forums.atozteacherstuff.com/showpost.php?p=79060&postcount=10
BabyAngel: I use the Tattle Tale Book for students to write down their complaints instead of coming to me during class time and tattling (unless it's a serious issue, of course.) They do this during free time. This way I can keep track of what's going on without classroom interruptions. It's also a good way to document behavior issues for parent-teacher conferences. I remove the pages daily and file them. littleschool and noreenk: I got my idea for the Talk-o-Meter from hayleysmom, but I just tweaked mine a little bit. My levels are: No talking, quiet voices, normal voices, and outside voices.
The tree is EXTREMELY SIMPLE to make!!! Just stack boxes...crinkle up brown butcher paper then sorta smooth it out...wrap it around the boxes...hot glue it in place...then twist up strips of the butcher paper to make branches...hot glue them in place then attach greenery to your branches. Hind sight says I should have attached the greenery to the vines "BEFORE" I hot glued them in place...but you could do it either way!!! Hope that helps!!! Good luck constructing your tree!
Thanks very much for the instructions...I think I'm going to attempt it! It really adds a lot to the room! Do you decorate it according to seasons? I'll try to post a pic of my tree when I get it completed...might be a week or two, since I get into my class next week. Thanks for the great idea!
You are so very welcome!!! Not a problem at all...I can hardly wait to see pics of your tree!!! About the seasons...I do have some fall garland that I string up during the fall...to add color...but I don't remove all of the leaves for winter. I did that one year...and honestly...it just wasn't worth the hassle.
My Room... Well, here is my room...there are still somethings to do, we have a really transient population, writing kids names on things before they come is ALWAYS a danger! I had to move to a new portable this year...it threw off my plan a bit, but it turned out alright in the end. Now, if they could only keep the air conditioning working and get rid of the nasty mildew smell. Oh well. My kids came today and they are SUPER!!! Much smaller in size than last year's kids though...its funny how much smaller they really are. Enjoy! http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=0Abtm7du0bsWLqY¬ag=1
I just love seeing everyone's rooms! I PROMISE I will ONE DAY get my pics online. But 2 weeks into school and I'm having to play fruit basket turn over with the teacher next door. I have 2 classrooms that adjoin each other and her room adjoins my on the other side of our shared bathrooms. Well, she is getting overloaded with kids and needs more space and my other room on the opposite side is a bit bigger than hers and has more storage so we are in the process of swapping this week. CAN WE SAY HEADACHE! LOL But it will be fine! I'll have the classes on each side of the bathroom and WON'T have to share it anymore!! LOL BUT MAYBE next week or NEXT MONTH!?!? I'll get my pics up! I PROMISE!! I'm wanting to make a webpage on my school's site with my pics and I don't want pics of my mess I have now!
Upsadaisy-- your room is really cute! Very bright and cheerful. Looks great! It also looks pretty big for a small number of kids. That is really nice!
My classroom last year... I love this page! Sharing pics is a wonderful way to start some things fresh. Here is a link to my classroom last year. Towards the end of the year, we had a fire inspection, and we are not allowed to have ANY fabrics and only 20% of our walls can be covered in posters this year. Yuck!!! I am in the process of painting my room to see if that helps, but haven't done any rearranging or taken new photos yet. But I will! I moved from 4th grade to 3rd, but fortunately stayed in the same room. Thanks to everyone for sharing your ideas...keep 'em coming! Sorry, since I'm new, I can't post a link, but if you copy and paste this in your search browser, you can see it. :sorry: kodakgallery.com/I.jsp?c=i1zs0tf.9679wf3&x=0&y=pdwt6g
