HA...looking at the particular picture...I remember that I need to cut a shelf to fit the cabinet in the back!!! One of mine was robbed...so I am gonna have to duplicate one!!!
TeachKids2Read, I LOVE your classroom. It is so cozy and inviting! Your students are going to love it
Love to Read & Eliza, Thank you for your compliments! Do y'all have pics up? I don't recall seein' them. Eliza, in what part of TX are you located? I'm between Ft. Worth & Abilene.
I'm in a WOW district also. I'ts basically a way to make sure that your lesson plans an teaching are interesting and educationally sound.
UUGGHH! I can never get this right the first time. Anyway, I'll try this one. Just updated, organized and final pics. I have already posted some a few weeks ago. I am finished! We start staff development tomorrow. http://www.kodakgallery.com/I.jsp?c=757hi55.cqi3olyl&x=0&y=-hw3thx
TeachKids2Read, I love your room! The tree is so neat and I love what you have on the student's desks to welcome them on the first day. How fun!
Don't have pics up yet. I have to make my camera and my computer become friends. I'm a little technologically challenged  but I might try later. As far as Texas goes, I'm south of Houston but used to live up in your neck of the woods.
I'll be in your neck of the woods tomorrow!!! We're comin' to the beach...and will come home either Sat. or Sun...depending on what we find that's FUN...and the weather!!! Just a little "get-away" before school starts! Have a great year!
Thank you much! I LOVE your classroom too!!! I too printed out the genre posters...and have them in my stack to laminate! I'm really working hard to introduce upper level concepts to my little guys...so when they get in the upper grades...they have past experience and knowledge to build on...coming from the upper grades (Resource Teacher) I think it is SOOOOOOOOOO important...and I hope at some point I can find those "feeling & emotion" heads!!! I'd really like to use those with my kiddos!!! If I can't find them...then I'll just draw some...and maybe even turn them into "Raggedy" heads!!! I think they would have fun with those...and we all know that if kids are having "FUN"...they are learning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
These are just a couple of shots of my room as it was set up for the summer. I'll be rearranging everything for fall, but can't yet, because the summer program is still going on. http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a287/3littlemonkeys/school/classroom003.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a287/3littlemonkeys/school/classroom002.jpg
Are those the chairs y'all have all the time??? I'd be scared to death that someone would get hurt with those...and furthermore...I can't stand up on one of those to fix things!!!!!!!! I'm vertically challenged!!!
Yep, those are our chairs. Nobody gets hurt, although taking them down in the mornings isn't fun. They're always piled on the desks "just so" and the slightest movement of one can send the rest tumbling! I try to get in early and take them all down so the kids don't have to deal with it.
Thanks! I can't take credit for the "summer is here" one; an aide did that (she's quite an artist!), but I had fun with the baseball card one. If you can see the "road" in the back corner, that one is a fun one during the year. I have all the kids' names on little cars and as they earn points for reading, they progress down the street to the finish line. They LOVE Fridays when it's move-the-cars day!
What nice rooms! I love getting inspiration here since I can't get into my own room yet! Anyways, TeachKids2Read, where did you get those white cabinets from? Are they the stackable kind that you buy the pieces and then set them up however you want? Your room looks great!
Your room is very cute. Where did you get the bookshelf with the ABC 123 on the sides? Also, I see you are giving your kiddos a treat on their desk; would you mind saying what is in it. Thanks!
I am so jealous of everyone who has a classroom! I know my time is coming, but in the meantime, the wait is terrrible. If I ever find the missing camera, I DO have some pics from the charter "school" I was at briefly. I was there from September to February of 2005. If I find it, I will post pics.....you'd be surprised at the furniture I had to deal with (and that wasn't the least of the problems).
Love your rug TraceGal Especially how you tied it all togehter with the curtains and overhead cover- the greens are hip but subtle. Where did you find the rug?
MsJasztal, I think you have some great potential here! Those shelves are great and you already have a lot of totes. I am using a ton of clear totes so I can see what is inside, and i am contact-papering a label as to what is in side (math, science, LA, etc...) so I can kind of keep things in the same general place. I see you have one of those traffic lights for tracking time, how do you like that?? I was thinking of buying one but I would like your opinion. Or is that the yacker tracker?
Love your room! In the picture that shows your desk area I noticed a few cute things. Where did you get the calendar at your desk, and the cute pencil lamp. Also, what are those pockets you have hanging on the wall? What do you use them for and where did you get those?
TraceGal, I love your room..... What do you have on your student desks? They look like some kind of pockt for name tags??
Miss Kirby, I LOVE your room, and do NOT get rid of your tent. It is the cutest one I've ever seen. You inspired me to look for a reading tent for my room. Kids would LOVE reading there! Great job getting it together so fast. I never thought you could get it all done so quick!
The book we are using - Guiding Reader's and Writers by Fountas and Pinnell uses mini-lessons each day. Some of those mini-lessons suggest that you list responses and answers on chart paper. My principal is requiring us to hang those around the room. For example, one will be "How to choose Just Right books". For more examples you can check out Beth Newingham's site.
I need your help. :help: I have been searching this post for the picture of the behavior system where there are laminated construction paper in different colors and the students move the clothes pins. Who was the original poster of that one, it would sure help. My computer is so slow and there are 22 pages now to look through. Thanks!!!
My room is as ready as it's gonna be. Today we had Meet the Teacher. It was interesting to see the little guys walking around absorbing all the "stuff" plastered around the room. I'll post my final pictures soon! I had a nasty migraine today so I left just after the kids left before taking pictures.
Me Too! Here are a few pics. Camera batteries died at in the middle of picture taking. I will post more later.
Thanks for helping Gopher4. I couldn't get that one to open up, but I just found it on page 12. :2up:
Jmevno-Your room looks very organized, bright, and cheerful! You have a lot of very good working spaces for the kids to go to! I really like your idea for holding your big books! Good luck this year!
I noticed that you had a Scott Foresman Science Flip Book. We just got out materials this year! I just have to find a space to put all the stuff in the "system"!! There's so much! Your room looks good! I like your frog chart for behavior. Too cute!
Everyone has GREAT rooms! I am now motivated to get into my room (later this week) and get started...I hope that my room looks as good! I always feel like I have too much clutter and too much funiture!
