I think it's about that time of the year where some of you may be getting ready to set up your rooms. I know that many teachers posted their photos last summer and it was so nice to see how creative and inspiring everyone is! Let's do it again. Show us your classroom photos!.:wow:
I can't wait to see other pictures too! Unfortuately, our school is being remodeled and I wont' be able to get in there until 2 days before school begins. So.... I won't have any fun pictures till then.
a good way to show photos is to upload them to photobucket.com (free) You can even post/imbed the photos right in your message.
I have a password, but when I log in it tells me the album is not available and that I should contact the album's owner and tell them to share the album using the gallery's share feature
Classroom photos I am still in the process of setting up my room. Since I am moving from 4th to 2nd it is a mess! I had to drag out ALL my books to get my library arranged ! However, here are my "in process" photos and some pictures of my room the last few years. I am going to try REALLY hard to get my room done THIS week!!!! http://www.mandygregory.com/Settinguptheroom.htm
Here is my non decorated set up classroom. I cannot wait to get in there and get started!!! http://www2.snapfish.com/thumbnailshare/AlbumID=171769215/a=100958628_100958628/t_=100958628
Mandy: I just wanted to say that your site is AWESOME! I came across it last week while I was doing a search for classroom photos and was impressed with all the information you have on your site.
I will post when I feel I have everything up to share! I've been teaching 4th all 4 years I've set up, but I have to say this is going to be the best set-up yet!
Inewbigging - wow, look at all those built-ins and all that space! Can't wait to see it after you are all done.
Seeing classroom photos gives me "the itch". I should be able to get into my room next week to start setting up. Try this link. Let me know if it works. http://www.kodakgallery.com/I.jsp?c=757hi55.6xqyu0yl&x=0&y=free8d
WoW! Gopher your room is amazing! I was wondering how many of the group tables you have. I notice that each group table seats four kids. How many of those do you have? I was also curious, what is "The Book" that is one your desk?
It is awesome, we just built the school this year, and moved in only a month before school ended (Looooooooooong Story!). That is why it is so clean and new. I cannot wait to get in and make it mine!
Ohhhhhhh......I want to get in my new classroom so badly!!! However, we aren't able to go in until August 1. Plus, I recently was hired for an awesome job at UCLA for the Summer Institute of the Gifted and will be working at their camp until August 18. I have to be on the campus every day and stay over night. So now I can't get in until August 18. I'm thrilled to have this great opportunity but sad that I can't start working on my classroom yet. But as soon as I do get in, I'm going to take before and after pictures. I'll definitely post them. Have fun everyone getting your rooms ready!!!
Gopher, what a neat room! It looks so inviting and sooo organized! If you don't mind me asking, what are the charts on your file cabinet for? Do you teach 3 different sets of kids? We were supposed to get our walls painted, so I'm going to head in this week to see what it looks like.
This looks great!! Beautiful room! I love the idea of using body pillows and those back rest thing a ma jigs! I really didn't want to spend tons on chairs so this is a great alternative!!
Wow! Gopher...I LOVE your room. Very bright and cheery. It makes me want to go in there and cuddle up with a book and read next to the checkered pillow...Great job..Your room is also nice and roomy....
Gopher4, I remember seeing those pics of your room last summer and I loved looking at them. Your room is so neat and organized!
I have heard my room won't be ready until August 6. I'm going in on Monday to see what it looks like so far so I can start mentally planning, take some pictures of it, and get my class list (if available yet). I'm so excited to see what it looks like.
How do you know where to start? That is kind of what half of my classroom looked like last year. I don't know how I didn't sit down and cry. Of course I saw it two days before the kids were to arrive. So they helped me clean it up. I didn't get it totally clean up the way I liked it until Christmas. I loved your site. I can't wait to see what your classroom will look like this year.
Everyones pictures are wonderful! I wish I had some of my classroom. I don't even really remember what it looks like. I only saw it once.
Gopher4- Did you make those genre posters? Do you have a link or a file for them? They would look great in my new library area. I can join the "wish I was in my room club". This morning I had a bad dream that it was the first day of school & I couldn't get all my stuff together.
I'm heading over to my new room(same school)tomorrow! I'm so excited to get it organized! I know I'll try to do too much in one day so I'm going to try to limit myself to 3 hours per day for one week. I hope I'm finished by Friday! I'll post pictures as soon as I have them! It seems like many of you have nice modern and new classrooms! Am I the only one in a 1930's building with the original floors and walls? LOL
Thanks! 1. I have 5 groups of 4. I do alot of group activities and this works really well whether they are working with a partner or with their group. I usually have between 15-18 students in my classes. 2. The book keeps track of discipline. The students get 1-2 verbal warnings. On their next offense, they sign the book. They write their name, date, what they did and which rule they broke. There is also a place for my extra comments. If students must return to sign the book again they have to write a brief plan and have their parents sign it. It hardly ever gets to that point with a 1 hour 45 min. class. Signing the book takes students out of the weekly prize drawing we have every Friday.
Thank you! I teach Reading to all 4th grade, so I have 3 sections. The charts are for discipline. Each student has a magnet with their name on it. They move the magnet down the chart with every infraction. 1. warning 2. Sign the book, write a plan, parents sign. 3. Office referral. I used something similar when I taught 1st grade. I came to realize that this wasn't very necessary for my short periods. I don't really have too many discipline problems beyond talking, interrupting and forgetting supplies, so I went to just using The Book. Signing it became a big deal and usually worked fine on it's own.
The posters came from Beth Newingham's awesome website: http://hill.troy.k12.mi.us/staff/bnewingham/myweb3/ I have had that bad dream many times.
I am in an older building too, Zoe! When our district remodeled several years ago they built beautiful new gyms, art rooms, etc, but barely touched the classrooms. When parents came to look around I had several ask when they were going to do the rooms - I'd like to know, too!
I love your room, too, Gopher. What else do you have on your chart stand? I saw the Newbery poster...
The first school I taught in was SO OLD. I can't remember exactly the date, but it is the oldest school in my area. But I actually loved the hardwood floors. Now I'm at another school where they recently did some remodeling and adding on, and I'm lucky to have one of the brand new rooms. I went from the worst possible room (because I was a new teacher!) to a MUCH nicer room. I'm very thankful!
Thanks. I went ahead and posted these photos because my room won't look too much different this year. A few new bean bags and posters.
I sometimes put our RR posters or charts there for reference. That chart stand gets moved to the front of the room fairly often. I have also used it as a storage stand to hang my extra charts on. I have hooks on the board at the front of the room to hang the charts on, so sometimes this stand is just used for storage.
