As I've posted here, I interviewed for a job on Friday. I sent a thank you/follow up e-mail on Sunday. The super said that he was going to hire somebody by Monday, March 3rd. If I haven't heard anything by Thursday, should I call? DH says not to because it's annoying. I think if I don't get a call by Thursday, I probably didn't get it seeing as how he wants a contract signed by Monday. If I didn't get it, I'd really like to know what I could have done differently just for future reference. Anyway, if I don't hear from the by Thursday, should I call?
I would wait. If they want to hire you, they will call. I know it's hard (and I've been there!) but if it's meant to be, it will be.
Evaluating job applicants can take a lot of time. They don't want to make a mistake. It's only Wednesday. I would not call. Good luck.
Thanks, I appreciate it. I'm thinking if I don't hear anything by Friday I'm definitely out since the super said he was going to hire someone by Monday.
I wouldn't call. They will make a decision, and if they want you, they will call you. If you don't hear from them, then they decided on someone else, and your phone call will not change their mind. And it's not like they need a reminder, they will make a decision. It's hard, but don't call.
No phone call. I'm so bummed. Maybe I was a close second and they'll think of me if they have anymore openings. I thought it went so, so, so well. The interview lasted over an hour, they took me on a tour of the school, and I answered 99.9% of the questions spot on. This sucks. And...I'm so confused. I was whining to my sister about waiting and my BIL caught wind of it. He texted the super (they're friends). I didn't ask him to, he just did it. I'm not griping, though. He basically asked if he'd hired me yet and that I was really excited about the possibility of coming out there. The super said he was waiting on an official resignation from a teacher and that he was excited, too. I looked at last month's school board minutes, and they officially voted to hire a teacher. So, I'm thinking the position is obviously open. Maybe he meant he's waiting for another teacher to resign? This whole thing is making my head spin, and I'm not going to analyze it anymore. Seriously, what happens happens.
They've known each other for 20+ years, and he probably wasn't that blunt. He's a royal smarta$$ and probably approached it that way. The super called my BIL asking about me after the interview and asked if he should hire me -BIL is a retired teacher. I'm not bothered by it, and if the super was, it is what it is.
No. To clarify: I DIDN'T put BIL down as reference, nor did I tell the super we were related. He figured it out on his during a casual conversation we were having at the beginning of the interview. The super called my BIL on his own. IDK what kind of reference he thought he'd get, but whatever. He called BIL on his own, asked for his opinion, and BIL gave it to him. I'm bowing out of this thread now. I can see it going in a back and forth fashion, and I'm not going there, especially since this thread started in a completely different direction. All I was looking for was some advice on a follow-up call and people to commensurate with the misery of waiting. I'm not going to defend something a family member did, something I see nothing wrong with, and had nothing to do with. Beth
Not asking you to defend...just looking to understand the sequence of events. Different districts/administrators have different policies regarding what they disclose before the hiring decision is official and who they conact for references. Looks positive for you getting the job. Fingers crossed for you...I'm sure you'll hear next week!:thumb:
Well, all I can say is that you just need to patiently wait. This is the time where you have to keep repeating that whatever is supposed to happen, that is best for you, will happen. IT was a year ago, that I went to an interview, was convinced I got the job, and the P never called me. They had 5 people to call, including the one they hired, and he never had the courtesy. I wanted that job so bad, but looking back it would have been horrible. Not the job, but where I would have had to move to. A week later another district called me for an interview, and got the job. In fact, it was yesterday, a year ago that I got the call telling me I got the job. I couldn't be happier, but would not have gone to this interview if the other job called me, because I would have accepted it. So just wait, you've done all you can
