This is so funny- my last few years in 5th, I had 27 kids.
This year in 2nd, I only had 15.

It's weird how the numbers you just threw out there are so close to my background!

I don't think you haveANYTHING to worry about. The way she responded I took it more as she was thankful you reached out. If she wasn't she would have said, yes and that's where you are staying. I always tryto remember that they (our bosses) don't know how we are feeling or want if we don't say anything! Best of luck!!! And please keep us updated! I'm a big fan :)

That sounds like a really good response from the Principal. It seems she would want to keep you happy and in the ''family'' as well :)

I think you did the best thing by asking. Sounds to me like you were slated for 5th, and had you never asked you'd be plagued with the "what ifs" the whole year! I don't think they're upset for asking, you worded it well and were just being honest. Is this job for NC or MI?

Michigan. I love my school in NC, so I'd never switch there.

Crossing my fingers for you! That seems like a very positive response from the principal. Even if they cannot move you, I don't think that you have anything to worry about in regards to any potential feelings that you feared the principal may have about you voicing your preference.

That's great---------------remember the first few months they come to you starting in August, they will probably still be 7 or 7.5 they'll be second graders for a bit before becoming ''actual'' 3rd graders :)

Just like in Kindergarten...I always spent the first few months (sometimes longer) with Preschoolers even though it said KINDERGARTEN on my door...LOL!

    I'm glad they moved you!

I think responses like this are very rude. Yes, she's lucky to have a job but she put in a lot of HARD work to get this job and deserves to be happy.

I bet you are sooooo relieved! When I was moved from 5th to 3rd a few years ago, I had a huge weight lifted off my shoulders.

I am happy in 2nd but I also loved 3rd. They are more independent and you get to teach multiplication to them, a huge transition! :)

Hooray! You would have done a fabulous job in 5th, I have no doubt, but it's great that you get to be where you want to be! Sounds like you will have a great faculty!

I agree, when I got laid off I was offered 6 th in a notoriously horrible middle school. The highest grade I've taught is Kinder. A co worker loudly stated, Why didn't you take it, its a job isn't it? No, we all have our limits. I would have rather gone back to being a secretary. I got my Kinder job back and thank God I didn't take that position, I would have been stuck with it. Congratulations and good job asking for what you want!
