I had a short interview today- it lasted only 15 minutes. Is that a bad sign? It was an interview with the principal and some of the first grade team. They had a list of questions already written out in front of them (about eight in total). A little background info: I have interviewed twice with this principal before (back in the fall) for an interim position this spring. I was offered the job, but turned it down for a longer interim offer at another school. She then emailed me recently and asked if I would like to come in to interview for a position for next school year. Do you think it was short because I've already interviewed with her previously? Or do you think that it's not a good sign?
I would think that as long as they asked all the questions that they had planned to ask, it's not necessarily a bad thing. If they'd stopped short, then I would worry. I've had interviews that lasted everywhere from 15-30 minutes to over an hour. Depends on the district or principal and what they want to know about you. And having met you before, they might have been able to skip some of the get to know you stuff they would have asked you had they not met you previously.
If the interview was short it might have been a screening interview and then they will call some people back for a 2nd interview.
It was probably just a screening interview----some districts consider it first round, some do not. I've been on a few and they've lasted anywhere from 10-15 mins. Don't worry too much about it. They are becoming more and more popular because of so many applicants.
The interview for my current job (4 years ago) was only 20 minutes. There were 3 people and asked prewritten questions. The interview seemed very short, especially since I drove 6-7 hours for it. (just one way) There was no second interview, a week later they called me and offered me the job. You just never know, think positive
