I had an interview last week for a position that I am very interested in, and I honestly BOMBED it. I came across as nervous and my answers were too vague. I think the only good thing was that they could tell that I had researched the school.

After the interview, I immediately emailed the principal--I apologized and elaborated on my answers. I also sent a hand written thank-you note in the mail this weekend. Today I got a call at 10:00 a.m. to come in for a second interview at noon! They had narrowed it down to two people. This interview went better than the first, and they just called a few hours ago to offer me the job! I know I wouldn't have even been considered without the follow up of the email and note. The AP also mentioned that she liked my brochure--an idea I got here!

I am so grateful--It is funny but I somehow just feel like crying. It is going to be a challenging job, but I really want to put down roots somewhere and feel like a part of a community.

So, the moral here is that anything can happen! Don't give up hope.

I always believe that what's meant for someone will be & what's not won't be. Although you didn't think you did well on the 1st interview, there's something about you & what you did that they liked, so that's great!

Congrats! That's an amazing story. The fact that you wrote to elaborate on your answers from the interview showed the Principal that your really cared about the position and school. I'm sure it's something that not a lot of people do, and the extra effort paid off!

    Seeking2913,
I made the brochure off of a Word Template (free online) and printed it out in color on a nice quality paper myself. From what I've seen here, a lot of people use VistaPrint. I made mine fairly personal--showing my personality rather than just using "buzzwords." I had a cover page (with my name, clipart, a meaningful quote and my certification), a personal "snapshot" page, education page, a page on my Educational Values (where I did put the "buzzwords" that are meaningful to me with some comments about them) and then a "Five Reasons You Will Be Glad That You Hired Me" page. On the back of the brochure, I put my contact info. I didn't specifically address job history with this since that is on the resume. I am not very artistic, but I like how it turned out. You might find more by trying brochure in the search function here. Best of luck!

Wow, what an amazing feeling. Congratulations! I do agree with a previous poster that if it's meant to be, it'll find its way to you. This must be a job where you are meant to be and to flourish and learn. When is your first day?

Thanks. I really do think that is the only reason I was considered for a second interview.
