In your real life, are you more of a private person or a public person with your personal and family news?

I am a private person and like to keep lots of information close, but I will participate in almost any conversation, just not devulge too many details. It can make it hard sometimes because some people are SO open about their lives and I might seem more closed off but that is just the way I am.

What about you? Do you spill it all or keep some secrets?

I'm more on the private side. It seems like the people who overshare are the people who really crave attention. I usually ignore them for the most part.

When I 1st moved here, I was shocked by the way people gossiped. I had never lived in such a small town before. I never really have gotten used to it.
It made me so closed mouthed about a lot of things b/c I led a less than stellar life when young! If I would have drank too much, skeleton bones might have flown out of my mouth. haha ( I quit drinking many years ago.)
Once I retired, it freed me up majorly. Now it doesn't really matter who knows what. ! I always have had a few good friends that we can tell almost everything openly. Then we do not discuss it with anyone else. It took me a good while to find the people here who were trustworthy.
There are somethings in my life that I'll take to the grave. I am open with my family about most things if they ask. There are somethings I'd never tell though b/c they would only hurt the person I told or make me too uncomfortable.

I’m definitely more private and was raised that way. It often shocks me when people blurt out things about their private lives that are VERY personal. When I think about it, my life is pretty mellow. Maybe I’m just boring!

Same here. I think it's better to be boring than to have a lot of drama going on.

Private side for sure. I was never a big talker anyway. No one can get out of me what I don't want them to know.

    I'm a mix.
In general, I err on the private side because of a bad experience during my practicum. I learned about teacher gossip the hard way, so I'm very cautious about the coworkers I talk to about my personal life. Once I know who those "safe" people are though, I can definitely be a bit of an over-sharer.

I think I am open and share what’s going on in my life. When I first started teaching I made a comment about me trying to fry chicken. It was a huge mess. Afterwards other people would come up to me asking me what I was cooking for dinner. I learned who would talk and gossip and others would not.
If someone ask me a personal question, I usually answer it honestly and openly.

I can be open to people I don’t know well in real life, but want to keep my online life kind of private. So like an idiot, I accidentally registered with my real name. Can anyone tell me how to change that in my account?

Mandy- I saw a post about changing your screen name on another thread:
“You can't do it yourself. You need permission from the site owner. Use the Contact Us button at the very bottom of the page.”

I'm a private person. I've learned (in some instances the hard way) that it's better so share less and wish you had said more than to share more and wish you'd said less. You can always add words, but you cannot take them away.

I'm a very private person. I grew up in a very dysfunctional family and learned at an early age to keep things to myself. As an adult, I just kept the habit.

I'm definitely more private. For me, I think it comes down to not trusting easily.

It depends. . . I can be both depending on the topic. Sometimes I'm amazed how people share highly personal things in their life that I wouldn't dream of . But then again when I do share a few things I'm wary of making others feel uncomfortable or uneasy with the topic.
