    Too much fun.....
School should be boring and by the book:rolleyes:

I'm kidding, of course. These kids will remember this activity for the rest of their lives and remember how to do long division.

Ummmm.....and the evidence that all 20 +/- of them actually LEARNED how to do long division is..........??????

I saw dancing, wearing sun glasses, pointing at dry-mark boards, and holding up signs. That's about it.

If that's what passes for education in the lower grades now, I weep for the future generations. (And no wonder register workers have ZERO idea how to make the correct change if the computer doesn't tell them!)

Yeah, cause I totally want to see a video of a bunch of kids taking a test and proving their learning.

When I watched the video, I heard repetition of the steps, the process of long division . Seems like a valid learning tool to me.

They will DEFINITELY remember that experience! :)

The music and the song will help them remember the steps. I would venture to say that the experience probably made them more confident about tackling long division - it isn't so scary anymore to them.

I'm sure that's not the only instruction this teacher has done for long division. If it is, then it's a problem--but it's most likely not.

Videos like this are cool if it fits your personality and style of teaching. I find it rather cheesy and I would never be able to do it or have my students do it. Now don't take it negatively though. lol. Do whatever works for you. :)
