Is everyone sending out resumes to only schools that are posted that they are hiring. The last 3 years I sent to like 70 schools, if they were hiring or not! I'm just wondering what everyone is doing???

Last year I sent resumes to all schools in districts where I wanted to work, regardless of posted openings. I got 8 interviews! In fact, I got my current job (not posted) from an interview for a posted position. You never know...

i'd send everywhere....there is no harm and usually principals leave it on file for when they do need to hire, especially if they need to hire in a pinch before the beginning of school in august.

I say send. Most will keep it on file for a specific amount of time and call you later if something comes up.

I usually send to anyone...if anything is posted, I may send it earlier, and some places that I normally wouldn't send to (if they are further away/grades I don't prefer) I only send if things are posted. The more resumes you send out, the better return you'll get!

    My 2005 Strategy:
March 2005---sent resume to any and all schools in my STATE....whether or not they had postings
    June 2005----re-sent those resumes AGAIN....

ended up with a handful of interviews, many of which were for jobs that were not posted

    My 2006 Strategy:
    March 2006--repeated above March strategy

From then, I applied to only posted positions, and only had 2 interviews.

I would send them whether or not they are posted, if they are schools you are interested in. I will be repeating my 2005 strategy!

    On campus recruiting

Check to see if your school has on campus recruiting through erecruiting.com....I landed two job interviews that way.

I did the same thing last year.... I got a mix of posted and non-posted position interviews, and it saves a good bit of time.

When you resend your resumes, what do you put in the cover letter? I'm stumped for a good follow-up, "remember me" type letter!

I'm getting ready to send out more resumes/applications, but I had a couple questions.

    Two quick questions!
    1. Did you send out a resume or an application?
    2. Did you did out your resume/application to the district office or individual schools?

If there's nothing posted, I would send a cover letter and resume. If the application was online, though, I submitted it as well.

I did both. The letter mentined that my application was on file in the central office.
