Which do you prefer, a rural or a urban setting as a teacher?
I personally work in an urban district and I like it for the most part. The energy, atmosphere and culture are really great to be a part of. It is also gratifying to know that I am teaching in an area that many people would never dream of stepping foot in, much less work here. On the flip side, overcrowded classrooms, constant visits and the pressure to produce measurable results can be difficult to deal with. The large concentrations of troubled(often disturbed) ED kids can be a positive or negative...depending on how you look at it. Overall, I enjoy teaching in an urban district.
That said, I would probably be able to transition seamlessly to a rural district, though it would be difficult for someone else to change from a rural district to the one I currently teach in.
