.... and I'm really unsure about my outfit. I wore my best outfit for the first round, not realizing there would be a second one. Dh is out of town, but before he left he said to wear black pants with a blouse I picked out. I'm not feeling the slimmest right now and think I'll be off my game in tight pants (at least in my head-they probably look fine). My good friend picked out an outfit that is a tan skirt with a really cute cardigan, but dh said it's too teacher-y (this is not a traditional teaching job). I think I'm going to scrape my butt off the couch and go over to Anthropologie to check them out. Retail therapy may cure my blues and indecision. I'll have my phone so I can check for advice-anything I should keep my eyes peeled for? It's interactive shopping! :haha: My first outfit was a full/A-line pinstriped skirt with a white fitted blouse and black/white heels.
I'd probably go with black pants with a nice blouse, maybe a cardigan over it. good luck!!! And Jem, I don't know too many of your teaching jobs that have been what you would call, traditional!
I tried to find things that were as toned down as possible. http://www.anthropologie.com/anthro...THES-DRESSES-PRINTED&templateType=subCategory http://www.anthropologie.com/anthro...THES-DRESSES-PRINTED&templateType=subCategory http://www.anthropologie.com/anthro...LOTHES-DRESSES-SOLID&templateType=subCategory http://www.anthropologie.com/anthro...CLOTHES-SKIRTS-ALINE&templateType=subCategory http://www.anthropologie.com/anthro...CLOTHES-SKIRTS-ALINE&templateType=subCategory http://www.anthropologie.com/anthro...LOTHES-SKIRTS-PENCIL&templateType=subCategory I could have posted more but these are the things I know are in the store right now. If the place is not suit and tie I think you could work these into being appropriate with a good top and cardigan. Good luck!
True, true, stg. It's not a school environment at all. It's a start-up in the city. I'll post more if I end up getting it. Thanks, Sue! I'll check those out. I'mat the store now.
I still like the first one. I think you could dress it up or down. So cute. And you could wear in in fall as well.
Thanks, guys! I got all of them except the third one (because VA didn't like it ), so I'll see if anyone else wants to weigh in before I pick. I'll take the others back. I got the yellow skirt in a size larger than the one in the picture so it's not so tight. I just might keep that one if it doesn't 'win'. It's super cute. Thanks for helping with this. It's hard to not have a girl friend to shop with.
Jem, You look slim to me! I think you will look great no matter what you wear but I mostly wanted to say, GOOD LUCK! You deserve to me in a better situation.
Thanks, teacherintexas and scmom!! This place is VERY different. The salary is lower, but they offer free catered lunch four times a week, free catered breakfast twice a week, $100 commuter credit/month (I would take the ferry each day-no driving!), $60 gym credit each month, 100% medical/dental/vision, yoga twice a week and plenty of vacation days. And they have these large fridges around the office like you would see in a gas station, stocked with Snapple, pop, wine, beer, etc. and you can just drink any of it all day long. Same with snacks in all the cupboards. And they have office events like talent shows and taco trucks. And they have dogs in the office. The perks make up for the lower salary. I am very qualified for the position, so I think it will come down to whether they think I fit in with the office culture. I'm meeting with the president and CEO tomorrow (they are a husband/wife team, which is great because that's how dh and I started Sprout). I think it will come down to their impression. And, yes, I probably look fine. But you know how sometimes you just FEEL bloated and ick? That's me right now, which is super frustrating as I've really stepped up my workouts in the past month-I've run 9 miles in the last two days on top of my Crossfit workouts as an example. And yet... still bloated.
A man's opinion the first one is absolutely the best if you are feeling "Heavy" do not wear the slacks they will just make you feel heavier (Binding). I would not use the last one even with a jacket. The gold one looks too dressy, use it on special days.
I agree that the yellow skirt is too dressy, but very classy. Now, your work environment sounds great.
Yup, I agree with the first one. Looking forward to hearing how the interview goes and to learn more about what the company does. Good luck!
That was one of the skirts I picked! I think you look great and it is good for the interview. I also love the dress on you. It hits you in a great place on your waist
Ack! I can't keep it all! The total bill was over $500!!! I just kept telling myself as I left that would I return most of it.... so hard once it's in your room. Sue-you have great taste.
My vote is for the first one. Not that the others aren't cute and might be great AFTER you get the job.
Ha, Major! My husband probably would have voted for that one, too. The interview went great. The third person I met with was one of the founders, and he walked out saying that I was fantastic, above and beyond what they expected, ect. The conversations were fascinating and have me thinking about new ways to approach this position. I should know by end of the day on Friday. If I get it, I'll tell you the company.
Hee hee-thanks, guys! It's looking good-my contact at the company said the president came over to her after left, gave her a high five and said he had never given a candidate such a high score after an interview. No food, although they apparently give their employees lots of free food. And yes-I think they I will have lots of chances to be creative. They had a 'hack-a-thon' recently where all the employees stayed all night (over 130 employees) and they divided into project groups. Then they worked all night on these projects that they had wanted to do to help the company but didn't have the time to do during the day. It sounds like it was a blast. So yes, it sounds like the company really values great ideas and creative solutions, which would be part of my job description. Even during the interviews, each person was constantly asking how to improve the product, what they could better, what my ideas were, etc., and they were so happy with my ideas-writing them down and saying they were going to start working on them right away.
Now Major I agree the outfit is pleasing to the male eye but is it an outfit to wear to an interview? I think she should keep all of them.
Are you going to send me a check, Dave? Not sure how I'm going to justify a random $500 shopping spree.....
