I was asked to come up with a list of books that I would like to get as class sets for my second graders for when we do whole group reading and literature circles. I am stumped!! Do you have any ideas? I like to push chapter books. I know there are the regular Magic Tree House, Cam Jansen, etc. but I am looking for something a little different. These are the only ideas I have right now:

    James and the Giant Peach
    Freckle Juice
    Indian in the Cupboard
    Chocolate Fever
    Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

The Marvin Redpost books by Louis Sachar are good. My kids like them. The boys especially like the Horrible Harry books.

Look on the this site at the guided reading and AR link. You can do a search for leveled books and see titles for our grade level. I've done that when looking to add to my library.
