I'm looking for a durable seat sack to use in my classroom this year. The trouble is that the ones I've looked at so far are so expensive. Do any of you know of a place where these are reasonably priced? And do you use them?

We have the red and blue ones from Really Good Stuff, they're pretty good as long as the kids dont rough them up, they are fifth graders though!!!

You can also make them, or have a friend who can sew make them. A first grade teacher at our school has some really sturdy denim ones that have held up for a while.

Our PTA made each teacher at my school a set a few years ago. They look pretty easy, I bet there is a pattern somewhere.

I checked out Really Good Stuff, I just think those may be too big for my 1st graders' chairs. Dunno. Do they slip off easily?

Wish I knew how to get ahold of a pattern.

My mother made mine. If you google chair pockets pattern or something similar you will be able to find a pattern. Just search a little. Be sure to use durable fabric. I had 4 pair of old drapes that were lined. Mine were made from that fabric and they have lasted 2 years.

I looked at ProTeacher, but I'm no seamstress so it was all confusing. :)

I found some at seatsack.com. Right now they have a special 25 seatsacks for $155.00. These are the original seat pockets. They look pretty durable.

I had a mom make a whole set for my class last year. Now that it's summer, I'm planning to make some to sell at our yearly garage sale. What would you be willing to pay? I thought the Really Good Stuff ones were a little on the high side since so much comes out of my own pocket!

Based on prices I've seen, I guess I'll go with around $5 for the yearly garage sale.
