I think seasonal avatars are not for me. It is April and I have FINALLY changed my Christmas avatar!
I only remember to change mine when Alice yells at us!
Hmmm, I can almost see the halo over your head.
You know that you're the one who makes us change them in the first place!:lol:
It IS true she got us to change our avatars. Why didn't she yell at me though months ago? I had Santa Claus in April.
More points for anyone that knows what this is in this picture.
Is it a foo dog?
Is it a komainu?
I thought maybe it was part of a psychotic episode, and didn't want to push you over the edge.
Mrs. C is closer to the right answer.
That would go hand in hand with my decreased presence here.
Oh, great. Now I need a dictionary to determine what she guessed.
Besides, you have to admit-- it DID look great around here at Christmas time.
No dictionary, Alice. Google is your friend!
I had to google what she said too which is how I know she is close.
And I admit to nothing.
Okay, I admit I might have torn down the avatar sooner had there not been a beach in the background. I like my beach pictures.
Grrr...I wish I were at school; my Japanese student would get it in a minute.
I'm thinking a foo dog is a komainu?
IS it the 2012 Zodiac sign?
Cza Cza got it. Mrs. C., I would count that but it's not the technical name.
Now Cza Cza, which gender is it?
Had to do some research...closed mouth=male?
You had a fifty-fifty chance of getting that right and you said you researched and still got it wrong. Nope.
Males chase the bad spirits away (open mouth).
Females keep the good spirits in (closed mouth).
That was fun.
Here's what I found, so it was a crapshoot:
Gender is variously assigned to the shisa. Some Okinawans believe the male has his mouth closed to keep bad out of the home, while the female has her mouth open to share goodness. Others believe the female has her mouth closed to "keep in the good", while the male has his mouth open to "scare away the bad".
What did czacza win?
Some good chi?
I see that on Wikipedia now Cza Cza. It is the opposite of what I learned, but I could be confusing it. Next time I go to the store, I will stop and ask. They have it displayed in a lot of shops.
Cza Cza "won" some new schemata.

We all won that!
YAY!!! I'm going out and getting some new shoes to go with my schemata.
Oh good. An excuse for czacza to go shoe shopping
Didn't you know that technically everyone wins the same medal these days? Shhh... Don't tell the others I shared this big secret with you.
Red shoes go best with a bigger brain.
As long as I'm not paying for them...
This just proves I remember how Alice taught me how to multiquote. My scemata stays a long time. That means I'm staying young.
This thread is great!
I agree--and the reason I'm posting is to see if my snowflakes are still there and nobody told me to change them...
Amakaye...you can change your snowflakes now....LOL!!!!
Alice, you are failing to clean up your own mess.
Cut ... I changed mine to a gnome awhile ago
I'm a little late in the season. Apparently I'm not the only one! At least the snowflakes are WINTER and not a DECEMBER holiday. It's not snowing still I hope!
Separate names with a comma.
