I have a few screening interviews coming up for elementary jobs! Please help me and let me know what usually is asked at these. I've read over the interview questions posted on here, so that has helped me some, but I've heard they ask lots of "situational' questions. If anyone has advice let me know! :thanks:
I've been on only one screening interview, but in that interview they asked really general questions. It wasn't until the 2nd and 3rd interviews that the more situational questions were asked. I was asked: Tell us about yourself and your background. Tell us about your reading program. What are your strengths and weaknesses as an educator? There were more but it's been a year and I can't remember any! But they were all general like those. I hope this helps. Good luck!
I just had an interview and one question for some reason threw me off. These positions I interviewed for are just "Temporary" for 1/2 grade and 5th grade. The question was: What would you do to make the students like you since they are leaving the only teacher they have known. The first thing I thought to myself was What do they want me to say, I would buy them lunch for the whole week, Bribe them with anything? I said that I would get to know them, since it is a change for all of us. I would take them out for P.E. or Computer time for a reward. For some reason this question just threw me off track. Any suggestions?
I just had a screening interview 2 weeks ago. They asked me 6 questions: 1. How would you go about knowing what to teach, planning what to teach, and finding out that what you taught was effective? 2. Describe how you would teach math. 3. Describe your language arts program: what types of activities would you use, what would your room look like, and what types of supplies would you need in order to teach it. 4. Tell us about some qualities of a teacher that you've known that you want to be like 5. Tell us about some of the qualities of a teacher that you wouldn't want to be like. 6. What grade levels would you like to teach? I thought that some of these questions were difficult only because they were so broad that I didn't know exactly what they were looking for. Of course, it's easier to answer them once you are on this side of it. Hope this helps others, as I didn't get called back.
