Doing some reflection on last school year.

Our end of year awards assembly was insane. My principal scheduled all K-6 students (nearly 700 children) to be in the auditorium at the same time. Additionally, he was out sick that day, so I had to run the show myself.

Looking for some new attention grabbers. What have you seen your principal use during assemblies to get the attention of several hundred students?

I like a call and response with the school name and mascot.

    Principal: We are the Roosevelt

    Students: Lions!

My principal used to be a coach, so he blows his whistle. Not very original, but it works.

We put hands up as a visual cue for students to be quiet and listen.

We do this and have a phrase similar to the call and response mentioned above.

We have a schoolwide call-and-response thing.
