Ya-yuh! Winter storm blew through over night. Aaannnd I thank ya! Anyone else down here south gonna enjoy the day off? I might get some work done. . . ooorrrr not!
You can't be my friend anymore. We have about 2 inches, and I'm all dressed; my husband just left for his school. All 5 of us have school today, snow or no snow.
LOL!!! Wellll, us Texans are wimps when it comes to a quarter-inch of ice. And lemme tell ya. . . today I am one pround wimp!
We have off today too....we would've had off yesterday too but it was a teacher work-day (they let us leave early.) I looked outside and it didn't look bad...then I went to my car and it's covered in ice. This is our first snow day of the year (and probably our only one...) I'm pumped!
I have off today too! This is a big storm Texas to Maine haha. We are suppose to get 10 to 15 inches. I'm not looking forward to helping shovel the roof off.
I thought I'd be out today but the temperature didn't drop enough. I'm trying to psych myself up by saying I'll get out earlier in May because of it. I even brought extra work home to do today in case we were out. What a bummer....
OOO, Alice...I'm in NJ and we have way more than 2 inches- you will too by the end of the day, I think!! Not snowing this moment but they say switching to rain by noon followed by more snow. Could be icy on the way home- be careful on your commute out there!!
My work school is closed but my college is not. *Grumble* Not only do I want to enjoy my PJ day, but I'm not sure about the roads. On top of that I probably won't have an interpreter because I registered so late (long story, needed approval). I told them this was fine. Normally it is but now I have a blasted ear infection and I can barely detect sound much less much of anything else. I have no idea if I have an interpreter or not and like I said, I'm not even sure the roads warrant going. Yet I've never purposely skipped class. The first class is crucial to knowing what happens the whole semester. Sigh. Stress.
we're off today. I was excited when I got the automated call at 6 AM! I looked out the window and saw my car frosted over and ice on the streets and I had no problem with it!
Were off.... another day for NH. I admit I LOVE it... but I'm not going to love it come July and were still in school
Columbus City Schools and all of the surrounding schools were closed today due to ice and snow. Tonight it's supposed to be windy and temperatures in the teens. That means the salt won't work on the ice. So, I don't know what will happen tomorrow.
I think we've got about 8-12 inches of snow. I can't really tell b/c it just gets all piled up anyway. I'm looking at the roof above the garage to see how much is piled up. typical ohio. Last march we got over a foot in a day, and by the following weekend it was gone! I think I have one more snow day before we have to start making up. A couple of buildings in my district are going to be going into makeups as of today b/c of serious power outages in the fall, some buildings were closed longer than others. If it keeps up we might be off tomorrow as well b/c of the amoung of walkers we have in our district.
I left early so I could take it slow and so I could visit the bookstore before class. I get there and apparently they decided to post the closing late. I drove an hour and worried about the conditions for nothing!
UGGGGG I hate when that happens!!! When I was in grad school I had class one night which happened to be my BIRTHDAY. I was so mad that I had to go to class. I couldn't even go out to dinner with my BF. Well... I got to school and the parking lot was empty...there was a sign on the door saying that classes were cancelled for the next 2 days because of some tragic occurance pertaining a student...weird...and my whole night was ruined. They were pretty good about posting closings due to weather though.
Nope. A good 2-3 inches followed by rain the rest of the day. It could get icy tonight; I haven't heard any forecasts all day. My ride in wasn't bad, but I was the ONLY person I spoke to who didn't say it was their worst commute EVER.
Not so bad afterall, we could have survived a delayed opening. I went to the food store a while ago...not bad on the roads. I'm sure all will be clear by tomorrow. Son came home early from work- I think they were worried about the possible freeze. I had a great day though- made a pot of buffalo chicken chili, a pot of tomato soup, laundry, some phone calls that were past due. Did the Jumble in record time, just had a glass of wine with hubby. A little paperwork tonight...not a bad day!!
Uggg..They just cancelled school for tomorrow. I know I can use this time to work on National Boards, but I want to be back in the classroom. My class was starting to get in the groove again after the holidays. We will be going to school until the end of May now.
It wasn't snow, it was pure ice, snow tire, chains, etc. don't work on ice. There is a huge difference. I don't see us as being wimps, but realistic that driving on streets coated with ice aren't safe. We had school when it was snow. The horrible part is that we now lose the Friday before Easter.
We have a two hour delay as well...but I think I'm going to try to get there early to get some work done!
Oh, I see! There is one school here that goes with the one-hour delay, but they are the exception. I remember talking to a bus driver about this once. She said that a one-hour delay really doesn't give enough time for the road conditions to be taken care of. They need at least two hours for the plows to go around and the salt to take effect.
It makes more sense for two hour delays on that end, but I've never experienced one better. So we'll see how tomorrow goes!
We had a two hour delay today. Which means kids arrive at 10:35 and we go to lunch at 11:05. Makes for a fast day.
