School climate suddenly in a very dark place

    Has anyone ever worked at a school where the positive school climate suddenly went to a very dark place?

    My question is," Has anyone else had this happen, and if so did it eventually go back to being a positive place? How long did it take?"

    I had a couple of toxic people who made the environment toxic and when they left it was back to being a positive place to work. So for me I had to wait it out or leave. Luckily I didn’t have to wait for too long.

    Yes, and fortunately for us, we have an administrator that's not coming back next year. :cool:

    I’ve never seen it suddenly take a bad turn, but I’ve seen it happen gradually.

    Naw I do not want to get in trouble for oversharing online. Just issues between teachers and admin building up to a crescendo.

    I think it may have been building but sudden events made it worse quickly.

    I've certainly seen it happen like this.
    And honestly once it does it's hard to bounce back.

    My school is in a very negative place right now and I do everything I can to help that... But it takes a team effort, not just a few people. It also is hard to repair unless the cause of that negativity is addressed - policies, admin issues, ect.

    I've seen things turn... different. I went to someone in central office when even my special ed kids noticed things going on. Admin is in a different school now. Bless'em.

    Our P left and we have this temporary P who's applying for the permanent job. It's down to her and one other candidate. More people like the other candidate, so it's gotten awkward real fast. She's a big fan of gaslighting and has tanked the morale very quickly.

    They are, but some of the decision makers don't seem too concerned with what the staff thinks. We should know in 2 weeks what is decided. Thankfully, this is before budgets come out and jobs get posted. People will have time to look elsewhere if they need to. :eek:

    I'm experiencing a turn for the worse in how my cooperating teacher is treating me. It went from not good to a very dark place quickly. It left me in shock. A family member of mine, who works in mental health, mentioned it sounds like gaslighting.
