I am a first year 4th grade teacher and I am needing help setting up a daily schedule. We start school at 8:50 and on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday our special is 9:05-9:30 and on Tuesday and Friday our special is 9:30-9:55. Lunch is at 12:55-1:50. I have tried different ideas but not sure how long I should allow for each subject. Any help is greatly appreciated.

At least an hour for reading, and hour to ninety minutes for math, 45-60 minutes writing, and at least 30 minutes for science/ social studies.

You might check with your school because some schools basically hand your schedule to you or have specific requirements for subjects.

We do 90min reading, 90min math, and 60min science, and 30min s.s. We also get our schedule given to us.

Do you have any fellow 4th grade teachers who could give you some advice or are you the only one? Your school may also have some guidelines that require that you teach each subject for a certain length of time. Before you spend much time on your own, check with your colleagues to see what info they can give you. Good luck!
