I don't like horror movies because I have enough nightmares as is, but my favorite Halloween movie is Hocus Pocus! :)

I just looked through NetFlix's top 25 horror movies to see if I had seen or enjoyed any and the only two I had seen were The Exorcism of Emily Rose and The Ring...I liked both. Some of the movies listed in their "thriller" category were more my thing...and plenty scary for me.

I looked through this list (http://www.best-horror-movies.com/100-top-horror-movies-2009.html) and from it I had seen Seven (in my top ten favorite movies, actually), The Shining (1980), The Sixth Sense, The Blair Witch Project, Scream, Misery, and Pet Cemetary. I've seen clips from Silence of the Lambs, Carrie, and The Exorcist, but no more than a few minutes. I hadn't seen anything else on the list, and certainly not any of the Saw, Jason or Freddie movies.

Don't like horror movies at all! Never have watched one, except Psycho when I was 7, yes, older siblings kindly took me to that wonderful movie!

I love thrillers though, where you scare yourself!

I don't really like scary movies. The Ghostwhisper keeps me up at night. But, I love an old 80's made for TV movie called "The Midnight Hour". It is my favorite. Next would be the cartoon "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow". And then, "Mom's got a Date with a Vampire" (DisneyChannel movie). I show the last one to my students every year before the halloween party at school. It has become a tradition.

I saw the remake of the Japanese version. I can just imagine how scary the orignal was!! This is the gist of it:

Beth Raymond is terrified by the deaths of four friends, three of which she personally witnessed, after they received chilling phone calls apparently from themselves in the future, showing the exact time of their deaths. After every death, a small red candy is found in the victim's mouth. In all the cases, the people who are going to die will see strange apparitions shortly before being killed, such as the woman seen on the theatrical poster with a baby carriage. Beth reports these strange occurrences to the police; however, they think she is delirious. Detective Jack Andrews, however, believes her, stating that his sister died in a similar way. Together, they begin to unravel the mystery of the chain of calls, but are unsure if they can figure it out before Beth's phone starts to ring the same eerie tune.

Right after we saw that movie, my husband started humming that eerie tune!! Ackkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk!

The most scared I have ever been is watching The Ring, and right in the middle, the phone rang...o.m.g.

Anyone remember an old 80's movie called The Monster Squad? About a group of kids trying to defeat monsters like Dracula, the Mummy, the Werewolf...really good, good child acting. I had heard there was a bunch of hullabaloo over a copyright or something, and it was really hard to find.

I've seen, the above movies I've boldfaced in English w/ the Ameican actors. And I have seen the Japanese version of One Missed Call (w/ subtitles). Have you seen the Japanese version of the Grudge called Ju-On? Here's the trailer:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e8R1dODSbzU

    There's also Ju-On part 2.

Hmm... I really only do slasher flicks on Halloween (spend the entire night lying on the couch, in a costume, eating pizza, watching all the Michael Myers flicks and handing out candy).

For psychologically scary, I like: Frailty, Jaws, Identity, and Storm of the Century. And Charlie Brown and the Great Pumpkin

    I love horror movies !

It makes me so mad that they remake the classics. The original "Last House on the Left" was so disturbing to me that I own it and have only watched it that first time. Grew up with Nightmare on Elm Street, Scream was one of my favorites. As well as Dead Zone, Evil Dead, American Werewolf in London and who could forget Sleepaway Camp. I also liked the Orphanage and what was the Spanish one a few years back about an abandoned school - oooh, that's going to bother me until I figure it out.

I never really "got" Audition-it was disturbing, but I just didn't get it.

kcjo -They actually released Monster Squad on DVD last year-I watched it several times as a kid.

I also love horror movies-the scarier, the better. Slashers, thrillers, you name it, I watch it. My husband won't watch any at all, so I watch with my 21 year old son--I raised him up right!!:)

I enjoy horror movies, but my favorite types involve the supernatural. Specifically ghost. But, there are hardly any good ghost movies out there that I know of. I did enjoy Death of a Ghost Hunter (I think that's the name- supposedly based on a true story).

I added a ton of horror movies to my queue on netflix. I added Hocus Pocus (for fun), Grudge 2 and three. I can't remember what else I added. Looking forward to more good ideas!

I remember having nightmares when I was 7 because my brother made me watch Dracula. I couldn't watch the Exorcist until I was in my 30's, and then I laughed throughout the movie. I really don't like movies where people are possessed, but I enjoy movies like Scream, Friday the 13th, etc.

Last night my husband took me out to see that new movie Paranormal Activity. It was pretty SCARY!! The theater was packed and people were jumping out of their seats. If you like paranormal stories then you'll like this one. It starts off slow but then it gets really crazy :woot: I'm surprised I didn't have trouble sleeping after seeing it

#1- Dawn of the Dead- the 2004 remake

    then... in no particular order

    The Orphanage
    Pan's Labyrinth
    The Ring (and the others)
    anything by David Cronenberg
    Ginger Snaps
    28 Days Later
    I am Legend
almost any of the Japanese subtitled horror films- freaky!!!
Scream - if you remember, when this came out it was sort of new and revolutionary for the genre... but now it seems sort of blah since it has so many versions and has so many copycats

I LOOOOOOOOOOVE this genre, and have actually seen probably hundreds of horror movies, so these are the ones that totally stick out in my mind as the best of the best. I do NOT like the gorey slasher type movies like Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween, etc.

I loved the Scream movies. I went with my sister to see Scream 2 and there was a creepy guy sitting behind us in the theater. It made the movie even scarier. By the end of the movie we were conviced he was a killer waching the movie trying to get ideas for his next victim LOL

I also thought Shutter (starring Joshua Jackson) was pretty freaky. I saw Halloween II in the theatre last weekend. It was good. (As you know, they're remaking them all).

BTW, I want to see Parnormal Activity, but maybe not too close to bedtime.

We were too scared to move to another seat LOL

It was midnight by the time the movie was over last night. If you get scared easily you might want to see it during the day
