I got a call at 7 a.m. saying there was a problem in my classroom - the water heater had blown. I rushed over to help clean up to find it just hadn't blown - it exploded! The force broke the door on the side of my office and blew a large hole through the wall into my classroom kitchen. The force blew wallboard debris and steaming water 30 feet into the classroom.

Can you imagine if my preschoolers had been in the room? I am shaking just thinking of the damage this would have done to a child.

In the meantime, they haven't figured out what to do with me yet, but they packed everything and put it in storage today. Two classrooms, the kitchen, storage rooms and 2 offices were damaged.

The angels were on side today.

Thank goodness that neither you nor the kids were there when it happened. It's bad enough that all your hard work to set up a classroom was laid to waste.

That is really scary. I'm so glad no one was there when that happened!

On a side note - last year we discovered our water heater leaking (it's in the attic). When the guy came out to replace it, he told us we were very lucky it hadn't exploded, as that's a common occurrence with them. I had no idea they could explode up until then.
