I'm curious to know...when you're in a restaurant or using take-out...what salad dressing do you ask for with your salad?? I am really bugged when the waiter or cashier assumes I want Ranch dressing. ugh. It's pretty popular in our area, but we (my family) NEVER order Ranch. I ask for a Vinagerette (Italian).
I like light Italian. Ken's Steakhouse imo has one of the best light dressings. I don't care for ranch either. Only if its Marzetti's ranch.
I love vinaigrette dressings, balsamic, raspberry, Italian... DH likes ranncchhh and says it like that too...
Italian only. I'll use vinegar and oil if Italian is not available. I will not go anywhere near other dressings. I don't like creamy stuff on my lettuce
It's not the healthiest, but I like ranch. I also like certain Asian dressings. But, at Souplantation, there's this salad called Won Ton Chicken Happiness that already has its own dressing mixed in & it's good!
I usually get Caesar Salad, because in garden salad there is a lot of stuff that I don't like, so I usually get the Caesar dressing. If not I like raspberry vinaigrette or balsamic vinaigrette.
I like balsamic vinaigrette or Italian, but it is not uncommon to have NO options because I am vegan. I find this bizarre since so many supermarket dressings are vegan, but restaurants seem to invent ways to add animal products to things (ie McDonalds adding beef derived flavor to their fries, Pizza Hut adding whey to their crust...). I carry salad bar packs of Italian dressing with me for these occasions! When I am at home, my favorite dressing to make is a dijon-agave dressing or a lemon-shallot vinaigrette. Costco sells a really good Japanese Ginger dressing/marinade that I use sometimes too.
YuM!! I LOVE that salad! I also like ranch...I can eat it with everything...hamburgers, fries, salads, pizzas, but I try not to...for obvious reasons!
Yum. I like to get that Won Ton salad on the bottom, and then mix my regular ranch salad on top...it all tastes good together!
I have never been to a restaurant where they assumed what kind of dressing you wanted (unless they only had ONE kind). I usually ask for a light dressing. I have been to places that had NO light dressings. Nowadays I would think most places would have all kinds. A few times I have asked for just oil and vinegar (on the side).
Ranch seems to be so popular, that is why I think they assume it. Even though I always get it, people who I eat out with get other dressings and will have to specify, because the serve sometimes doesn't ask...
I LOVE Green Goddess. Blue Cheese and raspberry viniagrette are my other favorites, but I will also try a house dressing if a place has it.
My favorite is french but I used to love thousand island. It just doesn't taste the same anymore but when I make reubens, I use it on that.
My all time favorite is blue cheese! I like Thousand Island when I'm in the mood, but for a safe bet, I can always count on Ranch.
